waking up alone for the first christmas ever...

Posted by zenhussy on December 25, 2003, at 10:28:10

Wah. Not only am I without coffee (medication making it not very enjoyable currently) but I just realized this is the first December 25th I've woken up alone. Technically there is my dog but her conversational skills are subpar even to my cognitively handcuffed mind.

Meh. I'll be with my brother again in a few hours after I drive through rainy, wet, super slick mountain roads. This is a holiday why? ---Please no answers!

no stocking...that's what is stuck in my craw.....

...damn that's sad but alas I feel sad for myself that I don't have a stocking. It isn't like I ever believed in the myth even as a kid celebrating both chanukkah and christmas. But somehow I guess I still miraculously expected a stocking. Damn these meds are making me stupider every day.

It's a quiet moment in this retail nightmare. I am so glad I don't have to work today.
I must say I don't miss the tree.
Or the wreath.
Or the boxes of presents.
I do miss the peace on earth. The feelings of good cheer. The mood of the holidays.
I can't fake it.
I feel weird and tired.

Sweetheart.. you are such a kind sweet person.. I wish I'd known about your lack of stocking.. I think that would feel awful if I were alone with no sticking on christmas morning.. I've only woken up once alone on christmas morning, but I had some small presents to open from friends, and was out early to annoy my brother!

Hope your day turns out to be wonderful and full of love

I hear you, Zen. It's no fun being alone on Christmas morning. It helps some to have a few gifts to open and make yourself a nice little breakfast. It still pretty much sucks though.

Remember the game "I packed my grandmothers trunk"?

So,

I filled a stocking for Zenhussy and in it I put:

Fallsfall's jacks
A Peppermint candy cane
An organic, fair trade chocolate bar,
a couple of tangerines (for volume),
and of course, a dreidel.

Oh yeah. I forgot the box of colored chalk to use on the nearest sidewalk. Don't let them catch you.

Y'all made me cry! Thank you so much

Oh jeeze people you sure know how to make a gal feel loved and cared for. I woke up feeling funked but went on to have a nice day with my brother. This morning I was doing the pity party.

Thank you to everyone for a truly thoughtful gift. I couldn't have dreamed of a nicer gift from anyone. And to have it coming from all of ya! Y'all rock.

I'm delighted beyond words about the gifts you all contributed to my stocking. Thank you oodles and bunches!!

Gesse Zen, I thought that you were a Buddist? But seriously. It's like the end of the film "It's a Wonderful Life" when Jimmy Stewart is standing by the Christmas tree with his wife and ZuZu (petals and all). Then he opens the white Bible from the angel Clarence that has a written message to George Bailey. "Remeber George, no one is a FAILURE if he has FRIENDS". The gift of honest friendship, and bonds that wind through you like so many roots in a window-jar plant; there is nothing more valuable. So you, perhaps, received more than any of us. Honest, simple and deep friendship. No strings attached. Anyway, this has been a long December for you,but there's reason to believe maybe this year will be better than the last.

Maybe some day, I will be able to be one of your friends. Until then, be well, fight the good fight. For dawn brings another day, use it the best you can.

With kind thoughts,

8 Miles High

bless you my friend (nm) » 8 Miles

Oh Falls! What you've been missing!
They're Orange and White foil covered egg shaped chocolates, and inside are these little toys that you put together. Usually you can find them near the checkout counter at grocery stores, for about 99 cents
The toys are ingenious. All the parts fit into a plastic shell about 3 inches long, but
when you put them together they're awesome.

I have a ladybug that hides under her wings a palette of real paints, and the brush is her head and tail, and an oven that slides out a pizza when you open up the door. (well the pizza isn't real, but I bet you could have guessed that part! ;)

Sometimes I get bummed out when I get one with a puzzle in it, but then there is always the chocolate..

I had to google to figure it out. They don't sell them in the U.S. because there's a law that you can't sell anything non-edible that is encased in something edible.

Oh well I guess I'll need all your addresses then!
Wow gifts I can afford! I could have sent presents this year.
