Hydration and hot weather

Posted by Tabitha on August 13, 2003, at 19:37:21

Hi. For those of you sweltering in the heat, I thought I'd pass on something I discovered. I notice if I drink water all day long the heat doesn't really bother me. I'm still sitting around sweating but I don't really feel uncomfortable. If I don't drink water, I feel lethargic and just like I can't tolerate the heat at all. Maybe everyone already knew this, but it seemed like a big revelation to me.

I hardly ever have to p**, even when drinking all the water, so I guess I've been dehydrated when not drinking it.

I wish I'd figured this out the last 2 summers in my sweltering, non-air-conditioned house.

Glug, glug, glug...

We can't even say p**? God, that's so...Victorian. I feel like I have to go cover the table legs now.

Well I am *.M.S. and hungreeee. I feel like I could eat a mountain today. And that's *after* the mac and cheese. What shall I get on the way home? Well whatever I get I guess I'll try to match it with water--good advice.

Thank you for the laugh Kara Lynn! (maybe only the particularly shapely table legs)

Thats a good point about the water though, come to think of it, especially for those of us who take meds cause those are dehydrating anyways.
And I know when I'm lethargic my taking care of myself (like proper eating and drinking lots of water) tends to slide, so its probably a viscious cycle.
