Hi and I am new here

Posted by PollyF on July 10, 2003, at 8:16:40

Hi to everyone,

I am new here and just thought I would say hello, I have been reading the posts and find I can relate to so many of them.

I suffer with panic disorder, with secondary depression. I have suffered with both since 1994 after an incident at work ( it was mor than an incident)... had never realised what can happen when you are placed under so much stress, now I have not been able to work - I have tried but always fall into that hole - "what if", whic then sends me on a downward slide.

In 1997 I did attempt to take my own life - I didn't succeed. I still have those thoughts, but somehow I realise that taking my life is just one of the options or choices I have, so I try to look at what other options maybe there for me - usually to sleep for a while and hope when I wake, I feel a bit better.

I have good days and bad days, I am lonely - I also get to the point that my thinking is not rational, as in "my family doesn't care what happens to me" - this is my sisters - I don't have children and I can't.

Anyway, I won't ramble in my first post, just thought I would give you all some background.

Bye from me in Australia

Welcome Polly - and from so far! If you're like most of us, you'll find it easier to communicate with people here about depression and panic disorder because the subjects are so familiar. Are you on meds or therapy or both?

When you flush your toilet does the water swirl in a circle to the left (counterclockwise) like it does here?? I always wondered if that was a myth, that your water swirls to the right "down under".

LOL talk about your first impressions! Don't mind me, I'm in manic cycle. (I wonder if that's a clockwise cycle or...) Welcome to PB!

i know you're serious!
Thats what makes it wonderful and not annoying.

I HAD to know whether a nail really dissolved in a glass of coke overnight, I understand these things.

You're just a very wise child right now.
and I love it thanks

G-
I heard it was a TOOTH that dissolved in Coke overnight...did the nail dissolve? I also liked your chitosan experiment, MUCH nicer than how they tested that stuff in the lab, if they had thought of YOUR way I'm sure they wouldn't have been poking around in...ummm, feces. (I couldn't stomach being a lab tech.)
Polly hasn't answered, do you think I scared her off?

Hi Polly - i too am from Australia. So is Deb R, if you ever see her hanging around.

From my parents who have travelled the world - yes, the water does travel the reverse way down the sink/drain/toilet. Clockwise here.
