I hope I am not being to promiscuous. Remember the Pee Wee Hearmen Movie (not the one he was at in the florida theatre) but when he lost his bike. I get what I call the lost bike symplex when I see so many walking hand in hand with lovers and my hands are swinging solo. I guess I subsitute his bike for a partner and I feel as sad and "lost" as he did. I have pleny of bikes,but...

I wonder, now, if that was kinda a metaphore in the movie for lonliness in general.

OMG, and while I have you here...if you followed my college links to SILS at Suny NY, I now realize that I basically told the whole boared literally where I live within a couple of miles radius. I did not even relize that until this mornig. I guess if you were to choose SILS, you have a friend in Buffalo already. Here is an actual link to the deparment, if you ever want to check it out

http://www.informatics.buffalo.edu/lis/

I looked at it in more detail this Am, as I might call my old advisor for some feedback on if I should go back, even though her and hubby now took full faculty positions in Florida and realized that between the two of them there CV's come to over 200 pages. I am really amazed at all of the work they have done.

Thanks for everything. ((tab))...~me

Hi, I have that PeeWee movie. Love the scene with the snakes in the burning petshop.

If I'm ever in Buffalo you'll be the first person I look up. My notions of career switching are on hold now. My plan is to quit and take a year-long sabbatical, then re-evaluate. I promised myself to not even think about career stuff for like 3 months. Ahh.. vacation. Looming.

Funny, I am sabbatical, in a way, and plan on taking a sabbatical somewhere, ideally at the moment ME. to sort things out, too. Lately Buffalo has been driving me nuts, as I think about trying life in another "venue" and not having everyone I see remember who I used to be and the things I used to do. Kinda a “clean slate (tabla rosa) in Greek I believe. Is there a word for one who goes on sabbatical from sabbatical other then professor?

There used to be some other males, but they're silent too. You want some male energy you have to go to PB and listen to the med chatter.

Hi Tabbycat

You know the sort of havoc that a dog can cause in a henhouse. I think farmers shoot any dog caught in a henhouse on sight don't they? {I believe that these same farmers merely chop the heads off the hens around about dinner time :) :) :) }

I've had some "minor" problems at work and I have been suffering a relapse of my chronic fatigue/depression. However I am now emerging out of the other side again (I am a pretty experienced ill person and I've developed some skills over time that allow me to recover from my relapses much faster than I used to)

Anyway, today is the first day in weeks that I've had the energy to even log on to PB to catch up on what's been going on here during my absence and your post caught my eye.

I thought I'd better join the fray again to give poor outnumbered Tony some support....even though I suspect he really enjoys having all you hens completely to himself :) :)

Love

Well it appears that things have changed a great deal during my absence. This is a remarkable change from a previous description that you provided me of yourself. ( I'll really have to get used to referring to you as HIM despite all the sudden body hair) Though did you know that some guys really turned on by hirsute women?

I beg you not to add the spare parts your waiting on. I really liked the former you. Get that razor out and at least get rid of the moustache and those hairy legs :) :).

Dog! Glad to hear you're bouncing back..

Dogs, hens, um, oh, I can't think of anything clever to do with that right now.

I'm in my up season, and choosing to manage it differently rather than adding meds. I realized the other day, I do have a lot of skills for self-management, I just have to make an effort, knowing the meds are not doing so much of the work for me anymore. So far so good. I feel much more alive, and I'm sleeping without nightly sedating meds.

Are you keeping up with yoga class and yoga girl? I'm having major urge to indulge in a just for fun summer fling, just have to find a likely prospect. My therapist even approves of my plan to seduce some unsuspecting guy. What can I say... it's been a long time.

I don't know how people manage to stay in the same place. I have to leave everyplace every so often, just to shed the old identity. now I live in a big enough city, I don't have to pack up and move, I can just change jobs and social circles and regular hangouts.

if there's some secret to changing yourself while surrounded by people who expect the same of you, I don't know it.

Hmmm, what can you say? Well I can tell you that if you just want a summer fling you have one HUGE advantage...and that is that that you are female.

I have just recently watched a 4 part BBC series called "Human Instinct" presented by Professor Robert Winston who did that fantastic TV series called "the Human Body".

Anyway in part 4 of "Human Instinct" he repeated an experiment that was initially conducted at a USA University and the results were identical to that experiment.

Basically they got a guy and a girl to approach complete strangers of the opposite sex on a university campus and say the following:-

"Hi I couldn't help noticing you as you were walking past and I think you are really attractive and I'm just wondering if you'd like to go out with me tonight and go to bed/have sex with me"

The results were as follows.

The number of girls approached by the guy that agreed to have sex that night with a complete stranger was Nil/Nix/Zero. They just didn't respond to that kind of approach.

The number of guys approached by the girl that agreed to go to bed that night with a complete stranger was 75-80% of the guys.

This experiment apparently has been repeated many times over and the results are amazingly consistent.

So in answer to your question as to what you should say or do. Well if you make the move, being female you have a 75-80% chance of getting a date with your unsuspecting victim by simply approaching him, letting him know that you couldn't help noticing him and that you find him atractive. Then simply ask whether he'd like to go out with you. (I don't believe you would even need to be as forward as asking whether they would you like to go to bed with you if that would make you uncomfortable...just ask him out and see what develops from there....believe me you will be holding all the cards)

But PLEASE be careful.....you don't want to approach a complete stranger who happens to be some type of psychopath. Maybe approach a guy you've already had some contact with and know a little about already.

As you can see you girls hold all the power and I'm really jealous. Lot of guys would love to be approached by the girl to be asked on a date. I wish Yoga Girl would do this to me.

Yes I still have my crush on Yoga Girl...you can see how that's been going in my response in the thread started by Bozeman below.

seeya Tabby and good luck
