I hate cigarettes

Posted by Kristi on September 3, 2001, at 2:26:44

Actually I love them. That's why I hate them.
Today .... still.... I am having a craving soooooo bad. You know (for those of you who smoke) how there are certain times you just have to have them? Well, one biggie for me is while talking on the phone. Out of work for a while right now.... been talking on the phone alot I just pace. This will pay off right? Ugg... here it is , Kristi venting again. That's probably what I'm known for huh? J/k Bye guys......

Kristi,
You know what else was always hard for me when trying to quit? What do you do when "taking a break", as in cleaning the house, projects, etc. I remember that was really hard. Have you tried eating baby carrots or sucking on hard candy? Jolly Rogers are really good.

Who, Who, am I to say anything about the trials and tribulations of stopping smoking. Just stopping going to bars (=smoke filled rooms) was as close as I got. I have had friends who have stopped and thought about it a lot. Seems like if I were to do that, I would have to have something to do with my hands. and my mouth. I watched my brother a lot, he was always busy picking up, putting down, lips, mouth, chewing breathing. I think I would have cinnamon sticks as something as a replacement and to entertain myself.

(not burn them, silly, just suck on them and put them in my mouth, and twirl them around...)

Mouse on a hot tin roof.

Tough job changing habits.

Kristi,

The worst time for me is when I sit at this damn computer. I light smoke after smoke. I set one in the ashtray most of it burns away, and I immediately light another one. I really need to quit. I've been smoking for 32 years and have no will power when it comes to stopping. I really hope you make it.

Greg.
Your great. I'd have to say that's my second favorite time... I can go thru a pack like nothin' if I'm on here writing a letter or anything.
W- Did you say what do I do when I take a break? Like cleaning? You call that a break? You must be a busy ass bee. I've been off a work a while now...if your intersted.... I need a house cleaner really bad!!!!!!!! Just playin' with ya.
Ya know what has been helping? Twizzlers. Those liquorice things... and I dont like them. Well, the cravings are definately becoming fewer and farther in between... and usually happen when I'm bored.... but I stick a twizzler in my mouth and just roll it around and suck on it. Must help because their is something in my hands and mouth. Shush any guys out their listening.
Thanks for your ideas............ Krist

Just wanted to thank you for the baby carrot idea. I'm so paranoid about eating in place of smoking, but those are lo cal.
Here I am worried about eating. I ate last night for the first time in 3 days. Does anyone else get like that from anasethia? It just knocks me for a loop. Oops.... a vent.

Greg: I'm the same way as far as the computer goes. I have been smoking about 30 years and have quit once for about a year. You definately cannot have 'just one'.
There's not a day that goes by that I don't think of quitting. Thinking doesn't get it done.
I hope you make it too Kristi.

Phil

Thanks Nikki,
Ya know, I used to post to you a lot.... I mean, us back and forth, but I was using a fake name then... and I can't even remember what it was. My computer crashed and I had to resign to EVERYTHING. How are you???????????????????????
I wish I can remember what are threads were about. I know I had started taking effexor and stopped... hated it.... you might remember me as the girl who's surgeon left the towel in her chest? Well, the point is.... we've spoken lots before, and it's good to hear from you. I rarely ever go on psycho babble anymore.... I think this is the first time I've seen you here... or shall I say noticed. :-) I had another surgery last week and still on some pain meds. Let me know how your doing? I forget what your taking... but I do remember a heated conversation with morphine or something like that.....
Anyway... yes... Talking on the phone and the computer are the worst without a cig. It's gettin' better tho. I've really taken up this self hypnosis thing... I think it's helped. I went to a real "hynotist" and walked out and lit up. This self stuff is helping me tho... with this and a lot of things.. How long have you been smoking???????? I think it's something I will ALWAYS miss. Everything seems boring without it. Anyway, I've rambled. Please let me know how your doing!!!!!! Take care hon, Kristi

Shame you can't remember the name you were using!! *g* I'm on the Effexor still (withdrawal got too much so I started back on) and augment it with Zyprexa )currently 7.5mg) which is a wonderful drug - I was in a bad bad place with voices and obsessoinal suicidal thoughts.. and Zyprexa started clearing all that with in hours!!!

Feeling very low at the moment, but not psychotic, which is good... but waiting an age to see my pdoc!! Oh well!!!

Take care

Nikki
