I have always struggled with this very thing. But Ive made a point to make the good things into habits. Say,for example drinking pop or alcohol. I was able to say to myself, "I dont drink pop or I dont drink wine", while sipping ice cold water with lemon. I say it enough, and do the good thing enough, that it soon becomes second nature.

Could you be more specific? What are the habits you worry about? I have a wine habit. I know it's not better for me. I enjoy it still, but it's bad for my liver and my weight and not great for my sleep. Hard to break habits though. I read somewhere that it takes a minimum of 60 days to break a habit or get into a new habit (like exercising).

Oh wow 60 days I'd thought it was two weeks. As it is hard to break habits. Phillipa

That's a nice way to make things reality.
And I like that one in particular, since I actually really like ice water with lemon, and I have to stop drinking pop/soda.
Thanks :-)

Well, I do want to be exercising. I went jogging a couple of times last week, but it's not a habit. I have a lot of "bad" habits, and not too many good ones.

That's not on the table yet. Thank goodness. While I'm less dependent on my t than I was, I'm not done yet, whatever done means.

Pain is good for motivation.

I did a disc in my back 30 years ago and suffered for a few years before the laminectomy. It was succesfull but there was no strength or resilience in my back.

10 years ago I found Pilates and, being so sick of pain and relapse, I have done the exercises almost every day since.

Sigi you had a laminectomy? Did you lose any of your flexibility? I do PT designed by physical therapists nightly . I've heard Pilates is excellent. So you do it daily on your own or in a class? PJ

>Sigi you had a laminectomy?

Yep

>Did you lose any of your flexibility?

From the injury more than the operation.

>I do PT designed by physical therapists nightly . I've heard Pilates is excellent.

Very good for backs and core stability

>So you do it daily on your own or in a class?

Both. Mainly though we have an instructor for 2 people. I know the mat exercises well enough to do them on my own now. At the studio we have reformers, those moving machine things.

So can you do what you used to be able to do? PJ
