what a horrible thought , it has me in a terrible state..upset and sobbing my eyes out...what if none of it has been real these 4 yrs... what if it's just transference? what if she doenst love me..? what if i'm left crying like a baby without her forever more..???

You are worried that your feelings of being loved by your T are just your transference, and that really she hasn't loved you at all? That is scary, isn't it?
You know, usually, though, we hear about transference going the other way. So, we'll think they don't care, or are judging us, or something like that. But that's just our stuff. I guess you're right, though, that thoughts about them having positive feelings for us might be transference as well.
I hope someone has something comforting to say here. My T once you told me that when you feel a connection with someone, it's real. There is some recent brain research that shows two people's brains being synchronized somehow when they're feeling a connection. So it's hard to imagine that.
I'm sorry you're having a hard time with this. I agree that it's hard stuff to think about.

Please don't sob your eyes out. I believe that in therapy we make a spiritual connection - we are spiritual beings, aren't we? and when we expose our deepest selves that connection occurs. We bring our whole selves into the process, current and past experiences, which includes transference. - But that does not mean it's not real, and tender and intense, and a valuable experience to both client and therapist. I believe this and I have experienced it. Trust her and trust the process.

I want to say a brief thank you for caring and sharing this with me... It means alot to me riht now... No one has any idea what i'm going through... I dont mean to sound dramatical, but it's the hardest thing i ever had to do what im involved in right now... I cant explain it - but all my walls seem to be down and i am so ..... im sorry i cant write anymore... but youre words about trust and the spiritual being part all helps me a huge amout...she my therapist seems to relate to me on 2 diferent levels at once...she does the spiritual connection...but wont acknowledge that part...so it goes unspoken... and im left to deal with it alone...and just let her think its all down to the ground straight forward stuff... oh i dont know if im making sense for you to read this.... therefore suffice to say THANK YOU TO YOU FOR SHARING AND RESPONDING ...MEANS A LOT..!Take good care...and Blessings to you to..!

Hi SG,
I believe from everything you told me, that your T really does care about you. I think a lot of us would be feeling awful going throug the same thing. You are in a totally difficult situation. I wish you could see another T somehow to help you through this time. (((((SG))))You are a gem, remember that, you will be okay, you are stronger than you think. :-)
