I came to this board looking for some encouraging words and support. Unfortunately all I have read are debates. I am not posting for a debate. I am simply asking for some Christian support in the area of turning"it" over to God. I just saw a new Pdr. I changed because I felt my previous Dr acted annoyed whenever I had issues or needed a change in my medications. I am very nervous. My last Dr. has been my pdr since I was in the hospital after a suicide attempt. I am scared that this new Dr doesn't really know me, and he has made some medication changes already. I am Bi-polar. He has put me on some medication that I have read some terrible reviews about involving increased depresion and outbursts of Anger (which I am already prone too). Anyway, my whole point is that I probably need to let this go and trust that God will work through my doctor to find the best possible options for me. I am scared. I am having a hard time doing this because of my faith in Pdr's not really being there.
I want to believe that God can work through my doctor and I can actually get balanced and have a happy life. Is this too much to hope for?

First, thanks for your support for one of my previous posts - I don't think I've yet had anyone say that they agree 100% with anything I've written!
I understand your need for Christian suppport. This board, however, is more for all sorts of varying faiths to support each other. At least that's the goal. What I've experienced in the year that I've been on this board is that some faiths are more tolerated than others.
This isn't a surprise to me, since I remember Jesus words about the world hating us because it first hated Him. Persecution comes with the package. It can hurt, but it shouldn't surprise us.
Few Christians, at least few who admit they're Christians, frequent this board. Those who do find that they have to walk a fine line to keep from being "blocked". Many, many things that Jesus said in His word are "block-worthy". You can read back through the archives to get an idea of what I'm saying.
I'm willing to offer whatever support I can, but it's probably best done through email. You can reach me: brehmites@aol.com

I've given things over to God before a few times and it made me stop worrying about them. I know it is hard thing to do, I've only been able to do it a few times. I don't know what else to tell you.
Anyway, what med(s) are you taking that you are afraid of and what are specific your fears with them?

I have had problems with irritablity and losing my temper easily. I have been reading about Keppra (just started Friday), and a lot of people said that it caused increased depression, outbursts of anger and mood swings. I don't understand why I am being put on something that the side effects are what I am easily prone to anyway. I have also had this reaction to Wellbutrin in the past and he just raised my dosage to 300mg. He is a new dr I saw for the first time Friday.

Hi Peggy,
I haven't heard of Keppra and don't know much about Wellbutrin except that it is also used for weight loss/ stop smoking, I think.
I strongly suggest you post your question on regular Psycho-Babble. There are lots of people there that know a great deal about meds and they are very nice and supportive. They could probably help you with your med. worries and make suggestions of other meds that won't cause side effects.
Having OCD, I really had lots of problems taking any meds at first, due to med. fears and side effects. I did get over these problems (they just went away by themselves), and now take them even when I get mild/moderate side effects.
Sorry, I don't know more about your meds.

Please have faith that there is a reason God has given you the trial you are going through, and when you make the passage and come out on the other side, you will understand why. There are amazing gifts to be granted during hard times! Compassion, wisdom, humility, understanding...these are all things that we wouldn't have access to without going through difficulties. Try to be thankful, even during times of hardship. Hardship is a gift from God. Trust that God has a reason for it, even if you don't understand it. Have faith.
Here is a scripture to meditate on in times of uncertainty and fear. It has helped me to use it, almost like a mantra, during hard times.
[Phillipians 4:5-7] ...The Lord is near. Do not be anxious over anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication along with thanksgiving let your petitions be made known to God.
Pray. Supplicate!!! Give thanks. That can take the place of worry, and it is much more effective!

Also, I think it is possible that God can help you through other people, especially those who are going through what you are going through with the medications. So, that is another reason why you should consider posting on Psychobabble about the medications.

I absolutely agree with Dave1 about Psycho-Babble offering a lot of help and support with specific drugs.
If you continue to have reservations about your new Pdoc, keep in mind that he is not the only doctor out there and good doctors do exist. I understand the insecurity in changing Psychiatrists. I wish you the best.
There is debate on this site simply because it is open to all faiths. If you pose a question here, it is open to answers from Jehovah's Witnesses, Catholics, Mormons, Baptists, Scientologists, Buddists, etc... You said you are in need of Christian support. Really, the best place to get that is in a church of like faith. I am not at all trying to discourage you from this site. But you do have to carefully consider the responses and weigh them for the truth as you know it.

I'll stop bugging you after this post. I did a Goggle search for Keppra on dr-bob's home page. I found a bunch of old posts about Keppra which you could look through if your interested.

Aaaahhhhh! So sorry. I jumped to conclusions (which is the most exercise I've had yet today). I'm sorry that you didn't get a response on the meds board - I had the same experience over a year ago, which is how I found this board.
People are pretty good at responding on this board.
I'm glad you were helped by those prophecies - the first time I read them, it blew me away. It's always nice when evidence backs up your faith. But still, we have to end up making that inevitable leaf of faith... (hey, more exercise!).
