Hypnotherapy???? Yes or No???

Posted by allysmom7pa on September 13, 2009, at 12:05:42

So since meds dont seem to be helping my constant level of anxiety I have started to look into hypnotherapy.

Has anyone ever tried this? With or without success? Looking for thoughts and ideas.

Thanks

It's ok as a way to help deal with stress, but it will probably not be your cure. At least the time I tried it, it was simply a relaxing voice saying things that would relax you further, with some relaxing music playing in the background. Go ahead and try it if you want. It could do you wonders, for all I know.

I recommend looking for the underlying causes, though. What's your diet like?

I've tried hypnotherapy to cure anxiety and well after trying four people and one of the best in my country the UK, I can basically say it doesn't work for me. What does work is Cognitive Behaviour Therapy and eventually facing your fear/s. With anxiety there doesn't seem to be an easy option, you have to feel discomfort and sometimes quite considerable discomfort on the path to recovery.

A constant level of anxiety is very debilitating. I know because it happens to me often. When I get periods where it doesn't happen it's great, but I know the anxiety will come back and make my life a living hell. I'm going to try phosphorylated serine and lactium next to try and control those periods where the anxiety is a nightmare.

I saw this technique on another site and to my surprise it is actually pretty effective at calming your mind. It is what I would call sort of like an "active meditation " - if you ca't just sit there , this is a good 2nd option.

The link isn't working for me at the moment. I've had a search about on other sites and it's about Mind Juggling from what I can gather, looks interesting.

Yes sir you are correct - the link is working for me , but if you google "hawkeen training" and "mind juggling" it should get you to the page as well

I tried the mind juggling techniques a couple times today. Whether placebo or not, I'm pretty sure it helps with anxiety, and I believe it says the anxiety lessens as you practice more and more.

Hey Dima, this may sound a bit silly but it seems to work with this technique after you have been doing it awhile. If you are out and about and want to "bring yourself back" to that spot you get to during the exercise, just quickly mimic the action of your hands when you are juggling. This seems to work immediately to lessen anxiety after your mind/body has become accustomed to the juggling.
