how many B-100 complexes before a vitamin is toxic

Posted by iforgotmypassword on June 18, 2008, at 19:58:24

to clarify my question, how many timed release "B-100" complexes can you take in a day before one of the vitamins is reaching unhealthy, toxic, or anti-therapeutic levels?

for reference this is the complex i am taking:

BRAND: Quest (the canadian company, not the british company) http://www.questvitamins.com/
PRODUCT: MEGA B-100 Vitamin B Complex Timed Release

INGREDIENTS (quoted, omitting french translation):
- Vitamin B-1 (Thiamine HCl) 100mg
- Vitamin B-2 (Riboflavin) 100mg
- Niacin (niacinamide) 100mg
- Pantothenic Acid (d-Calcium Pantothenate) 100mg
- Vitamin B-6 (Pyridoxine HCl) 100mg
- Folate (folic acid) 1mg
- Vitamin B-12 (cyanocobalamin) 100mcg
- Biotin 100mcg
- Choline Bitartrate 100mg
- Inositol 100mg

-----

i am trying to put together a daily plan for B vitamin intake. currently it's one of these Quest timed release B-100 pills, an AOR P-5-P 50mg capsule, and on top of that today i used a sublingual methylcobalamin 1 mg pill which added another gram of folic acid as well.

also can i put these in a pill splitter without ruining the timed release mechanism?

Normally, you cannot split a timed-release pill. Only one company that I know of has ever successfully made a TABLET that was timed-release and could be split while still preserving the timed-release properties. I do not even know if they still do it, as the process used coats every individual grain of powder before pressing it into a tablet. It is an expensive process. The company is Nature's Plus and you could probably call them and ask if they still do it.

As far as B dosages, I posted some links in another post about B6 toxicity. I would not routinely go above 100mgs per day for B6 for any reason based on my readings. Notice I said routinely. I would not go above 500mg of B6 per day ever.
