I've used it off and on over the years and never had this problem.

Dont think so declan.

Sommat I took really gave me a bout of insomnia (lasted a year or so) but it wasnt ginkgo which i've taken lots of times over the years. If I was pushed to point the finger, I'd say it was probably 5htp that did it, but not sure.

Ginkgo is a cracking herb with virtually no side effects that i'm aware of!!! It kinda poops out a bit though so my advice is to take it for 3 months then give it a couple of months rest then go back to it.....this way your body tends not to get to used to it.

Nice to see you again deccers me old pal :-)))

Hey TJ
I have heard of people having their sleep affected badly by 5htp......light flickery sleep, just what one's trying to escape.
Dunno what it is with me; hope it's age and not that I've managed to shoot myself in the foot with some common or garden vitamin.
Nice to see you.

Extracts of Ginkgo biloba leaves inhibit monoamine oxidase.
Monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOIs) have been reported to cause insomnia.

Ginkgo side effects and cautions include possible increased risk of bleeding, hypotension, gastrointestinal discomfort, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, headaches, dizziness, rash, and restlessness.
