Excuse me if im wrong here, and just disregard, but do u mean inositol. If you do then yeah its a natural over the counter i believe b vitamin.

Along with other natural remedies there were small studies done showing it to be helpful with depression/anxiety/sleep/ocd.

Problems.....well first in the studies it requires very very large amounts i believe the smallest amount used was 12 grams of it.This wouldent be too bad aside the annoyance of such a high dose if it was EXTREMLY expensive.

Most reputable brands of it are quite costly to be taken at even a fraction of those doses.

One shop i know localy kept theres behind the counter,i asked why? I mean its not a recreational nutrient, then she shed light, well drug dealers were comming in and stealing it to cut coke with it.

I tried to use it when i had extra money, about the only thing i "might" have noticed was better sleep?Defintaly nothing dramatic.Good thing was its at least not bad to take, very sweet like sugar.

Although most brands prices are outrageous,u can find some brands like NOW foods and source naturals etc that sell bulk of it cheap, however with nutrients i personaly prefer to pay the extra money, since there are no standerds really, its just to easy to pay less but get garbage.

There is a lot of info on inositol though just do the ole google on it.

If u werent speaking about this, well then i guess i just gave a ton of irrevelant information huh.

I can't speak to it personally, as I simply can't remember what happened when I took it. I just took a look at the literature, and there has been a great deal of recent interest in using inositol as both a primary or secondary (augmentative) treatment agent for mood disorders. It apparently is quite helpful for panic disorder. Bipolars seem to respond in one of three ways: it worsens their condition, it does nothing whatsoever, or it significantly improves their mood. One recent study correlated adverse effects to underlying hostility/anger. It certainly is a harmless intervention, in the physiological sense. It is a simple sugar, being only slightly re-arranged from the original, glucose. You probably consume some already, every day. Maybe some people just need a little more than diet can readily provide?

Inositol seemed to work well for a while for my OCD and anxiety. I used 12 grams a day... You can buy the powered form from www.lef.org for a good price.

However, one negative thing I did find out the hard way... Inositol is reported to desensitize serotonin receptors. I believe this is true, because after I stopped taking Inositol I decided to go back onto Celexa, and I couldn't tolerate even the smallest dosage (2.5mg). I repeatedly got hypomania and severe anxiety from restarting it, so my Pdoc and I postulated this was due to the effort the Inositol had on the serotonin receptor sites. Previous to taking the Inositol, I took Celexa in upwards of 30mg with no problem.

im only taking 500mg now, to hopefully help sedate the negative aspects of my ocd... probably a stupid idea given the small dose, but i am mixing it w/ a few other things, and dont want to over-do it. worth it??

Sorry, but you'll have to inform us if it's worth it.
