I'm so glad you feel great. But what is fo-ti?

I take a formula containing polygonum multiflorum and a dozen other herbs and it helps with sleep, which is a bit odd for a MAOBI. On the other hand I don't feel an AD effect and I can take it with Parnate without anything dreadful happening, or anything wonderful either. This would be more than a gram a day.

Got it at a health food store.

I noticed that it is energizing, and it is seeming to help somewhat with my residual SSRI indudced movement problems.

Is it more potent and effective than selegeline? I do think I read before that you said deprenyl hadn't been an great anti-depressant for you. What do you think makes the difference?

No, I've never actually tried selegeline. Though I'd love to.

I tried parnate.

Just curious...what doses of lithium and fo-ti do you take? How long have you been on them? How long did it take for the fo-ti to kick in?

The fo-ti has an imediate energising/alerting effect.

I have been taking lithium 600 for about a month now.

In some ways I hate lithium's guts, it is so darn restrictive and doesn't allow for any pleasure to seep through.

Hi Linkie

>I hate lithium's guts, it is so darn restrictive and doesn't allow for any pleasure to seep through.

It sounds like you're taking to much. Have you tried 300mg or 450mg?

Fo-ti sounds great! It would be cool for you to try selegiline.

Kind regards

I should try less I suppose.

I would like to try selegeline at some point.

Too much fo-ti definately makes me paranoid! Especially when I combine it with execise and chocolate. Too much PEA I suppose. I feel like I have entered another dimention. Very similar to when I was on parnate.

Are you getting too much dopamine Link?

Hope your mum is getting better. Mellaril withdrawal can be really rough.

Yeah, my mother is still in the hospital. She can't speak !

She's only 55. 4 weeks ago she would talk to you like any average 55 year old. But now, she can barely string together a sentence. I don't know what the heck happened !

Hi Link,

Mellaril withdrawal symptoms can be particularly bad - worse than most APs. If the hospital still has any Mellaril, it would be a good idea to restart the Mellaril and do a SLOW taper. If not, Largactil is a similar drug and might relieve her symptoms. She could then taper the Largactil. Atypical APs are very different to Mellaril and are unlikely to relieve her symptoms.

Kind regards

It is scarry. She's been taking it all my life, so I've never seen her off of it.

I don't really understant how withdral of an AP could affect her speech so much. She literally has trouble forming a single sentence!

You'd think AP withdrawl would make her talk a mile a minaute.

Hi Link,

>I don't really understant how withdral of an AP could affect her speech so much. She literally has trouble forming a single sentence!

It's worrying, has she been seen by a neurologist?

It would be very useful for your mom to take a test dose of Mellaril, say 50mg. If her symptoms were rapidly relieved you would know that they were probably due to withdrawal.

What do your mom's doctors plan to do RE her medication?

They did a number of strange things in the hosp.

First they put her on seroquel, and then decided to take her off of it in favor just lithium and clonazepam.

Its really just been a shock to her system, all the changes in such a short time.
