Have any of you ever tried aromatherapy? If so, what did you use and was it helpful?

I've used it for insomnia. "Peace and Calming" was the name of the mixture. I don't know exactly what oils are in it though I could find out for you if you like. It actually helped quite a bit and allowed me to get to sleep some nights. A friend of mine uses it for everything! She doesn't go anywhere without her oils. She claims to have used it after she had major surgery and she said it enabled her to go off of the hardcore pain killer drugs after one day. (I don't know which one she used for that either but, again, I could find out.) She gave me a small bottle of lavendar that is supposed to be good for depression. I haven't tried it yet though. Have you used it at all?

Hi Kara. Thanks so much for your reply. When you have a moment, yes, I would be interested to know which ingredients were in the magic potion that helped you sleep. I did buy some lavender and tried it last night. I don't know whether it helped or not. I went to sleep around the same time I usually do. One of my cats ran out of the room when she smelled the lavender. My other cat lifted her head, sniffed the air and then went back to sleep. I was surprised at how disinterested she was. I guess I should try some catnip instead. Have you ever seen Celestial Seasonings "Tension Tamer" tea? I think it has catnip in it!

Sarah,

The "Peace and Calming" is made by Young Living Oils and it contains tangerine, orange, ylang ylang, patchouly and blue tansy. My friend said that ylang ylang can lower blood pressure so keep that in mind. Apparently (according to my friend) Young Living Oils are high quality oils. I have mixed feelings about this company as they're a multi-level marketing organization. I don't think they can be purchased in stores.

Hi Kara,
Thank you for the information. I guess I should know this, but what is a "multi-level marketing association"?

I should have said "multi-level marketing companies" rather than associations. Anwyway, it's a pyramid type marketing company. Some of them are illegal but others aren't. This one isn't. I don't know enough about them to tell you the difference. I would guess that it's because in the true pyramid schemes, the people on the bottom of the pyramid get tptallly ripped off. They put in their own money but don't get anything back. Here the people on the bottom just earn less. They give a percentage of their sales to the people above them in the hierarchy. The people at the top make out the best.
