As my friend has constipation regulary from IBS and wants to know this. As many natural remedies for constipation give her cramps and magnesium doesnt.

I use Magnesium (from Magnesium oxide, Amino Acid Chelated) 250mg 2X per night. This keeps me regular, if it's too strong I use only one pill.

I cannot say this with all certainty but I think all Magnesium supplement can cause loose poop if taken in excess. If unsure, ask the person at the health food store or pharmacy. It is trial and error. I take 500 mg per night. Once I took 800. That was too much.

Hi Jai,

I would recommend switching to a different form of Magnesium besides magnesium oxide, which isn't very absorbable by the body. Magnesium taurate, glycinate, malate and citrate are much more absorbable. There is also a really good Magnesium product that my doctor recommended called Natural Calm. Do a search for it on yahoo or google if you would like to look into it. Take care

Senna tea works. You can find about an aisle-full at Asian food stores (kind of makes you wonder, doesn't it?) and one or two brands probably at your regular supermarket. Don't overdo it. Plan to be at home. Takes some hours to work.
