Doc wants to try high lyrica dose for Anxiety/SF

Posted by Tepi on October 12, 2012, at 22:58:28

Ive been a lot of time sufering from Social Phobia Anxiety and many more things... Ive tried almost all the meds out there , including Nardil but nothing seems to give me a normal life
I found a good Doc some moths ago and explained him that alocohol sometimes help me a little
I told him that I wanted to live with a certain amount of alcohol in my blood so I can have a better life quality
I have been doing that in fact... I drink 3 or 4 beers every nigth and it helps me on the next day with social problems...

Doc thinks that if alcohol can do that then there is got to be something that could make the same thing,,, Sometimes I doubt it...
I know alcohol its not the solution and I dont like it because it affects my health but I prefer to die soon but live a few years with a better life quality

anyway Im gonna trying again lyrica but this time high doses.. 1200 mg per day.. lets see what happen

Any thougths are well received

I've never been a big fan of Lyrica by itself because it just apparently increases GABA which will work initially but you will build a tolerance to it.

Nardil + lyrica is better because Nardil inhibits GABA-T so GABA isn't metabolized as quickly which means you accumulate more GABA and then when you add lyrica it adds more GABA so it works very synergistically.

Beer = GABA, Lyrica = GABA. It should make you feel very similar, but I don't think it will work long term.

I would analyze what went wrong with Nardil, maybe try a SSRI + stimulant + klonopin which is potent too.

Hi Tepi I had a doc that substituted chloral hydrate for alchohol at night. It worked with an ad for a few years. Then doses needed to be increased. Eventually I weaned off it. Yes I did feel better when drinking beer. Why who knows but I did. Other than this how have you been? Phillipa

You're a good candidate for Ketamine.

1200 mg of Lyrica? That's twice the prescribed dose for GAD in Europe.

Social Phobia and what else?

Eric

>it just increases GABA

Lyrica does no such thing. It has no affinity for GABA. Lyrica binds to the α2δ (alpha2delta) subunit of the voltage-dependent calcium channel in the central nervous system. Lyrica also decreases the release of neurotransmitters including glutamate, noradrenaline, substance P and calcitonin gene-related peptide.

Ketamine is a NMDA antagonist that can treat depression rather swiftly. It has some undesirable side effects though that are very transient: hallucinations and dissociation.

Its not a new drug. Its been around for a long time.

Look for clinical studies.

Tepi chloral hydrate is a very very old med similar to alchohol so it can replace it very nicely. Love Phillipa
