I need more of a mood stabilizer. Right now I take low dose Lithium(300mg) and low dose Trileptal (300mg).
My doc says either med is ok to go higher on. I would think Trileptal would be safer, but when I try to up the dose it gives me a bad headache.
I already lose my hair due to a bad thyroid and my hair really gets thin on a higher dose of Lithium.
I would rather use a high dose of Klonopin, but docs don't like that.

i'm interested in this too. i am on 300 mg of lithium now, but i'm having issues w/ side effects (so naturally i won't raise the dose). i (sorta) liked trileptal in the past, but my pdoc really pushed lithium.
i'm also on 20 mg of lexapro and 50 mg of tramadol. i'm scared to abandon the tramadol completely because it pulled me out of a major depressive episode.
sorry i couldn't add much, but i wanted to piggyback on this thread as i'm in a similar predicament...

B- I also take Tramadol for a pain issue. I don't take it everyday, but it has pulled me and kept me out of major depression.
I'm afraid that Trileptal has been causing muscle and joint issues. Just this week I pulled my back and couldn't walk!
So I dropped the Trileptal and went up to 600mg of Lithium a day (which should make my doc happy).
I also am still taking 4 mg of Klonopin a day.
Because the pulled muscle, I am back to low dose Tramadol. I see an orthopedic doc on Monday.
I hope 600mg of lithium and 4 mg of Klonopin will keep me stable and most importantly keep me from getting too angry.
At this point I don't know what else to add.
