Wellbutrin Question

Posted by GOLFER1983 on December 17, 2011, at 18:43:34

Hey Guys -

I was put on 100mg of Wellbutrin for sexual side effects from Anafranil. It WORKS for that. I was on it daily for a week and was jittery and it made me revved up and OCD slightly worse (OCD is my issue).

My doctor said to take 50mg 1-2 hours before sex and it wouldn't be an issue.

When I don't take it, I don't think about girls (while on Anafranil). If I take it, I want to call/text girls, which is great.

I'm wondering if I could take 50mg before I go out on weekends sometimes as sort of a pep-upper and to make me want to approach girls and dance, etc.

Might be an immature question but I'd like to know....

Why dont you try it, and let us know if it does the trick? No harm in giving it a shot... and based on your experience with it already...sounds like it`s worth a try... right??

Not immature. I thought about this yesterday as read it when you posted it. If OCD is an anxiety disorder and I did take wellbutrin for a week years ago it did something wierd to me increased anxiety guess so pdoc hospitalized me when saw me at appointment thought hypomanic. Just took me off the med and it was gone. Arent there other meds you could take for sexual stimulation like viagra etc? Just didn't want to answer without thinking it though. Phillia

Thanks for your posts! I tried it last night and it just revved me up and ended up getting really drunk. The day after drinking is never too fun ;)

Guys - I think I am going off Anafranil for a couple weeks. I'm only on 25mg which is super super low but I really would like my sex drive back.

There has gotta be a way to help OCD besides these meds....

Sure, why not? But it won't really help with anxiety over approaching girls.

I doubt anyone here would think it's immature. It's one of the most elemental aspects of our nature and it's a serious, serious tragedy that all these drugs erase sexual ability and eventually all sexual interest and thought. Not nearly enough attention seems to be paid to it by the medical communtiy though.

At first a person is just glad to be rid of their terrible depression or similar problem (assuming the drugs "work" for their problem), but then sooner or later living a life of no sex or ability to think about girls gets to be a real drag... as you know.

Thanks for your replies. Oh, I KNOW! ;) I feel stuck in a hard place because I have the answer to my OCD and depression BUT it comes with such a large price (no sex drive AT ALL) that I don't know if it's worth it.

There has to be other methods we can do to cure our OCD, etc. Eating healthy, exercise, yoga, meditation, can all really help. The biggest thing for me is staying away from alcohol because that makes it much worse.

Klonopin and Adderall are always there for as needed basis which is a huge help for me. Without those, some days would be really tough.

But, sex is soooo important for us guys! Without it, we don't feel like men! We have no depression but we need girls to feel fulfilled!

Just FYI, it's important to women too.

When you mention to other people that have never dealt with the problem it can seem somewhat trivial and petty. However, I believe that over time it can become a big, big deal - especially when you're young.
