What is most like effexor?

Posted by ander35 on October 19, 2011, at 18:29:18

I take effexor 100 yet I have sexual side effects? It works so well though so I want the closet thing. Prostiq was awful, it made me too wired. It;s close to efffexor but maybe it was a dosage thing? I want the least stimulating SNRI, what is that?

All the seretonin reuptake inhibitors will cause sexual side effects...... might be best to try changing to nortriptyline and see if this controls things without interfearing with your sex life.

Hopefully neither - you might feel drowsy for the first couple of days, but beyond that you should feel calm but not drugged or sedated

Before Effexor came on the market, I took a combo of Paxil and Imipramine. Combo's like Notrip and Zoloft are said to be pretty effective.

Good idea.

Clomipramine is the tricyclic that most resembles Effexor in its ability to inhibit the reuptake of both serotonin and norepinephrine. Side effects are pretty strong for most people, though.

I am currently taking a combination of Viibryd (SRI + 5-HT1a partial agonist) and nortriptyline (NRI + 5-HT2a antagonist). The side effects of Viibryd are minimal for me. I am not experiencing apathy nor sexual side effects. I think this could be a winning combination for some people. Hopefully, it will be for me.

The "sexual side effect" is an effect of the drug.

You could try milnacipran, although I suspect you'll get this from any SSRI at sufficient doses.

There's always the 600mg/day heroic venlafaxine route.

Ever tried an MAOI?
