Provigil dosing

Posted by pedr on February 10, 2011, at 23:53:18

Hi P-Babblers,
I am on 90mg Nardil and it makes me really sleepy during the day. To counter this somnolence I take 20mg Provigil first thing in the a.m.

For a month or so the Provigil worked well but increasingly the sleepiness has began to return. (Puzzlingly some days are OK but the very next day I will literally fall asleep at my desk at work 5 times)

My PDoc has approved going up to 30mg but I'm wary of dose escalation.

I'd like to know if upping to 30mg could speed-up provigil's loss of efficacy - is it a case of the body/brain acclimatizing more rapidly the more Provigil there is floating around? Or is it by only partially treating the somnolence am I hastening the reduction in its effect?

Thanks!
Pete

Is that really 20mg or 200mg? I have a family member who was on 200mg twice per day. Later switched to Nuvigil (it is more pure and lasts longer - you take it just once per day).

I know the person sometimes was allowed to double up on a morning dose of the Provigil. Had no side-effects.

Other people are quite sensitive and cannot tolerate even 25mg. It can cause anxiety in some people. Some get headaches. Some worse. And some - nothing.

Hi,
yes my mistake, I meant 200mg. Again I'm falling asleep at work so it looks like I'll have to try 300mg.
