Valdoxan (agomelatine) was released here in the UK in July. I've been taking it for about 2 weeks. Does anyone have any experience in taking it with Venlafaxine?
I've been more agitated and started isolating again recently. I think there might be a case for start-up side effects but i'm concerned about synergistic increases in BP/heart rate and exacerbating anxiety long term.

hi there - i didn't go on the nhs - wasn't aware they weren't prescribing it. I am hoping to reduce the effexor eventually...

there have been some case,s //if you can believe them, but i told my p doc obout it,an he said never heard of it,///i shown him on his own computer////an he went, well i never heard of that.//an like he said if its not geniric or in his meds book you dont get it..good old england

If I were you I would reduce at least one of your drugs by a shade, and perhaps agomelatine should be one of those.

Ok thanks, i wasn't sure how long i should be waiting. I haven't had any anxiety today but i've been on my own.

That's good advice, considering Ven is probably the thing keeping me alive anyway.

Yeah I got a message or two. Was really looking for info from other people taking SNRIs with Ago. Just wondered if they had any issues with overactivation.

I started ago at 12.5mg/d and in retrospect I should have stayed there longer.
I'm sceptical of the idea that the AD effect kicks in after 2 or 3 weeks.
I felt it from the beginning.

Thanks sigismund. Yesterday I felt these moments of a deeper, more 3-d antidepressant effect than experienced on venlafaxine alone. I was also mellower in the afternoon. Today I am experiencing agitation again and irritable and down on things - whether or not this is due to fluctuations in sleep i can't tell.
Can I ask why you wished you'd stayed at 12.5mg- Are you usually quite sensitive to medication?

I think the effect of most ADs may begin quite soon but it may take several weeks for substantial improvement to occur.

I've never taken SSRIs or Nardil, although I have taken milnacipran.
I noticed that from the beginning, and it had a nice quality to it, a calming quality, but with any dose above one quarter of the starting dose there was an ants under the skin type feeling.
I'm thinking of taking a tiny tiny bit with agomelatine.
Tianeptine worked straight away too.

Why I wish I stayed on 12.5 for longer?
From the beginning there was a lovely calm feeling the next day.
Nothing hugely AD perhaps, but good for me.
I increased it to 2/3 of a tablet a night. And then the afternoon feeling of pressure came.
It wasn't like anxiety exactly, certainly not social anxiety, but it made me want a very stiff drink.
Eventually that went away, but I felt I forced it a bit and it would have been healthier to do it more gently.

I wouldn't take any less than 25mg if that was all I was on for depression. It all rests on how great is your need I suppose.
