amineptine (survector)

Posted by stronge on December 13, 2009, at 16:22:05

I have been reading about this (nonexistent?) drug and it seems to just the kind of thing that might help alleviate my lifelong depression, fatigue, lack of motivation, etc. Is it legally available and/or are there doctors who treat patients with it?

It has been legally banned by its main manufacture and any others. It also is no longer prescribed any in the world.

There was a long time period where it was still obtainable through underground type means, however i doubt this source of obtaining still exsists, and if it were,id be extremly extremly hestiant to use it.

It was a tca, what i find funny is all the stories posted after its band,of people like yourself curious about, however i find little to no archive posts when it was legal from users who used it legaly and over extended periods of time.

Oddly enough it was a TCA,many people use combo to achieve the same effects through the same mehtod of action as aminptine. Some drugs to this effect would be for example,

Effexor...a SSNRI
Wellbutrin a dopamine effects dopamine.

The actual company who made amiptine also makes as you know stablon another famous unconventional drug.

For what it's worth, it's an atypical TCA, whose pharmacalogical effects are very different from other TCAs. Effexor is not appreciably similar, and wellbutrin is only similar in the broadest possible way, i.e. both it and amineptine increase the availability of catecholamines in the CNS. That's not much.

It's probably still available from research chemical companies, though it's technically illegal (though not a controlled substance) and probably expensive. I would suggest it's more similar to methylphenidate and amphetamine in its effects than to either of the meds mentioned above. Neither of those drugs (the stimulants) tend to be miracles (amineptine wasn't either, for most users), but maybe they (or modafinil/provigil) would help with the symptoms described by the initial poster.

Yess i was just mentioning that it was odd that a TCA would be so disired. There a few that tca`s that have different then typical actions, vivactal being one also which was seeked more it seems then the standerd class of tca`s.

Also i was meaning to say more so that people have often tried to use other meds to achieve a Amineptine type feel,i agree i spoke to soon using the two i did (welbutrin/efexor) as specific examples when in reality i just picked them off the top of my head.
