Urgent! Going to doctor tommorow about Dexedrine

Posted by Sky Brite Line on June 17, 2008, at 21:47:41

I was initally put on Vyvanse which i posted is very unique, it takes an hour to start working, i have to take it before i get work.

I'm on the maximum dose and i have been on it about 7 days and its not working. Cant take double amount, which would be 140mg which i dont belive any doctor would tell a patient to take that amount.

The reason being i just notice less effects, its not noticeable, you get a feeling of "focus" and clear thoughts, but not any kind of "rush" aka Adderall, dexedrine.

But tommorow, its either the dose is upped to 100mg. Or going to back to dexedrine.

I dont know what going to happen......its really made me appriencious all day because my doctor may just say stay on the 70mg for a while when its not working.

See sometimes i do reqire long attention all day. My big problem is, in general people think im slow because i dont pay attention, ask again, and frustrates many people. Next is the Anxiety dread, and then panic attacks.

My doctor took me off Restoril completely. Put me on 100mg of Seroquel.

The anxiety I have and i want all of you to know, is its the unknown, and "sh*t always to me" (exuse my launguage). My mind is mentally programmed now to have anxiety, and worry. I never have peace.

But lets get to the bottem line, my doctor wants me to go down on Xanax, maybe off it. I feel im losing my mind during the day, everything is confusing in my head, later it will spiral in to psychical symtoms, pull over the car and vomit, headaches, depession, and a overall feeling dread.

Sounds like you may be withdrawing too fast from benzo meds. Should be done very slowly. Let us know what the doc says. Phillipa

If the medication is helping with focus, and you're not getting a rush, that kinda defines "working," for many of us. What exactly are you looking for? What would you define as "working" for you?

If you're looking for a rush, it may be that you're looking for something other than an appropriate response to the medication. In fact, it would sound to me as though you're looking to get high, you know?

Good luck wtih the doctor today.

Sounds like it's working exactly as it's supposed to. Stimulants are not prescribed to give the patient a "rush". If the "rush" is your goal, I fear you could fine you're on a slippery slope towards abuse of stimulants versus using them to alleviate problems related to ADHD. I'd hate to see that happen again.

I just woke up, took 2 50mg and its been 30min and still its starting to slowly activate.

Usally before i would take Dexedrine and would wake up immidiatly. Vyvanse really takes about 45-1hour to start working.

But i did notice yesterday after 6pm i was tired, and needed to lay down. Its working, but not as i thought it would. It will be about 2 hours until i feel the inital effect. But it varies in some people.

Id like to know what "Vyvanse" is. Is it a drug for ADD ??

I was on dexedrine for about 2 years. Great for staying motivated...but it can get you going insane with anxiety. Maybe you should take a longer acting benzo like clonazepam ? Xanax has a shorter half-life if I remember correctly.

I think this is a good combo .. (if you can keep it ;) )

dexedrine spansule - 20 mg
paxil - 20-30 mg
clonazepam - 1-2mg

This worked for me for about 1 year....got a lot done. One night I boozed...the resulting combination of alcohol and dexedrine made me an angry nut.

I was off that combo and put on an anty-psychotic...VERY UNPLEASANT.

Good luck
