I'm going from Cymbalta to Pristiq. Any idea if I can just stop Cymbalta 60 mg and start Pristiq 50 mg. My doc said to taper off Cymbalta but I can't think why. He did say to just start out at 50 mg of Pristiq (don't have to build up).
I haven't seen much about the new drug on this board. There's something exciting about trying a new one though.

Pristiq is the active metabolite of Effexor so presumably it will carry with it less side effects like the citalopram/escitalopram situation. And supposedly it's metabolized differently making it more effective.
They're both SNRI's so I would think you could switch directly. Cymbalta is supposedly more agonistic with norepinephrine, and I found Cymbalta more activating/powerful than Effexor, but that's just me.
