Who said that honey potaties benzo's, it does

Posted by your#1fan on October 27, 2007, at 15:19:23

Omg, well i could sleep so what happened, i heard someone say it here on psychobabble i think it was Michal? im sorry bad names ROFL.

I had some left over desserts and i put honey on them. After i did notice, i didnt extent its half-life, but it did increase the overall effect of it, it didnt seem, well i took 1mg of Xanax becaue the temezpam had wore off after 2 hours.

It seemed as if i took 2mg. But not really it just in its own way increased the way it felt. I got zizzy and dizzy, so ofcourse i went to go back to bed. This was like at 2:34am....

Anyways who ever said this, thank you.

I always knew grapefruit juice has something to do with it, but just like the label on the bottle "dont take with grapefruit juice" that statement is very true, i was feeling awful causes any benzo make you feel psychotic!

Like i said "only try this at home" ROFL!!!!

Not while your driving, operating machines, putting you head out the window....., at the movies because you may think you are in the actuall movies..., or at school, or any place where you would react to a situation.

Just some advice.

But yes honey does increase the effect of benzodipines.

Probably depends on what benzo it is. Are different benzos metabolized by different cyp liver enzymes?

Its hard to see how an acidic mixture of fructose and dextrose (honey) has anything to do with benzodiazepines other than correlation not being causation.

yes i do think it belong to a benzo. Well a certain benzo.

Honey definertly increases the effect of any benzodiazepine, just the effect doesnt increase its half life. Michal thank for sharing your experience because it has caused some talk about it.

Thanks all for posting.

You can do a search on honey + drug metabolism you will get some hits. There is some research on how honey affects liver enzymes responsable for drug metabolism. Although the findings are not all consistent.

The very small study in Basic and Clinical Toxicology, 100, 269-272 bases off a test of honey obtained in India if I'm reading the article correctly. Honey as an average has the same consistency typically but I could imagine wild variabilities in isoflavones from different host plants.

A note on Grapefruit... It can have effects on all sorts of medications, but only has a large effect on certain benzos. Watch out for valium and grapefruit juice especially. I noticed little to no effect with Klonopin and grapefruit juice.

Grapefruit is more studied than honey and it falls in what I would consider "possible" category. Yes, its probably not a good idea to down a gallon of grapefruit juice with medications at CYP3A4. On the other hand, I doubt an occasional grapefruit on the hand is going to have life changing consequences. Grapefruit juice is an acquired taste personally anyhow :)

Same thing, but more life concerning can be said for certain vegetables with Vitamin K and warfarin therapy.
