It's normal to feel shaky and a little odd during the start-up phase of Zoloft. I can't tell you when this feeling will go away because everybody reacts differently and there's no way of knowing for sure. Also, you had a nasty shock to body and mind with the emergency gallbladder surgery, and it can take a good while to bounce back from that sort of thing. The painkillers you were given (and maybe still taking) will also have an effect on your mood and it's common to feel low and uncomfortable during withdrawal, or as tolerance develops. We might not be able to answer all of your questions, but I wonder if sometimes you might be looking more for support and understanding than technical advice? Babble is here to provide that too and it's okay to ask for it if you need it :-)

Please don't be sarcastic or jump to conclusions about others.

If you or others have questions about this or about posting policies in general, or are interested in alternative ways of expressing yourself, please see the FAQ: http://www.dr-bob.org/babble/faq.html#civil

Follow-ups regarding these issues should be directed to Admin and should of course be civil. Dr. Bob has oversight over deputy decisions, and he may choose a different action.

Hi Suebird did you call your pdoc today and I certainly hope he could give you some insight as to when you would feel better on the zoloft. May ask what symtoms you are experiencing? Love Phillipa

Hey, Suebirds,

I hate to say it, but Quintal is right on all counts: your start up effects will vary, because that's the nature of the beast; you've just been through a major trauma with the gall bladder surgery, which is likely to affect you for a while yet; and this site is geared for general support as well as technical advice. It's OK to say that you're scared, and just want reassurance.

As for how long your adjustment is likely to last, that's hard to say. Are you at the same dose you started on? If so, if you've been on the same dose for four weeks, you should be coming up on the end of it. Things should be easing soon.

Have you talked to your doctor about ways to deal with the start up effects? I know you started something else -- was it Zyprexa? That should help with the anxiety. Maybe even sticking with both of them for a while, rather than tapering up and then stopping the Zyprexa. That might be good, since it sounds as though anxiety is a big problem for you. (And, frankly, I don't think Zoloft is as helpful for anxiety as Paxil can be. Did your pdoc discuss Lexapro at all? That might be more anxiolytic... Just musing here...)

Good luck. I hope you feel better soon.

>ssris are f*[]CKED UP DRUGS PERIOD

Please don't exaggerate or overgeneralize. It would be fine - and certainly welcome here - to post about *your* specific experiences with medications such as SSRIs, including the negative ones, as long as it's without using sweeping statements or exaggerations.

Hi Suebirds (might I mention that for some reason your name brings a smile to my face, and makes me hope even more so that you end up getting what you seek here? :)

Is this your first message board? I know it can be so tricky to get the swing of the best way to entitle one's posts, and to state what one is looking for. (Boy, could I tell you some 'interesting' stories about my own cyberspace beginnings!) Please hang in there no matter what, and revisit your own threads often, to add to any questions and/or comments that may have been posted.

I do think you may also like some of the other boards here. This one, in theory, is more "cut and dried" and technical than some of the others, that deal more with the feelings behind whatever treatment one is going through.

I see in you so much determination to understand what is going on with your meds and feelings, and to make sure to see it all in the most positive light possible, that I'm sure you're going to succeed!

Best wishes!

ConfuzyQ
