Help...Please.

Posted by Crazy Horse on November 26, 2006, at 18:03:31

I'm not depressed or anxious, but i have lost my energy (this has been going on for about 3 wks now) i have no motivation, im losing my zest for life, i don't feel like doing much of anything!

I'm thinking i need more dopomine..specifically Wellbutrin. My current drug cocktail is 150 mgs. Zoloft, 300 mgs. Lyrica b.i.d., 1 mg. klonopin b.i.d., and 300mgs. of trazodone at bedtime.

I definitely feel very flat. Any suggestions/ideas will be greatly appreciated. I see my pdoc this week and i was going to ask if i could add on Wellbutrin.

Thanks for listening.

Hi Monte,

I'm in the same situation, since I started Lamictal I have no energy and I'm constantly tired. Tired, but can't sleep. I'm so sick of this tiredness. I'm going to see my pdoc just before christmas, if I don't call him before. The tricky thing with Lamictal is that it's very uncertain when and if it starts to work, it's this endless waiting.
Anyway, I'm going to swap remeron for wellbutrin if things are not getting better.
It's hard to come with ideas since I don't know what you tried in the past. I guess you have worked your way through the ordinairy SSRI/SNRI/TCA? Have you been thinking about a stimulant?

I find only 150 mg Wellbutrin XL makes a world of difference in terms of energy and motivation. Have it in the morning with a cup coffee. :>} Best of luck; that's a miserable feeling ("oh, really, another day?").

Hi Mattias,

Your right, i have tried all of the meds you mentioned and also all of the MAOI's. I like what im on now..especially the Lyrica. I don't know what happened..the bottom just fell out.

Hey, i wish you the best, i would also like to try a stimulant, but my Pdoc won't do them. Good Luck Mattias, and if i were you i would call your doc and get in earlier. Hopefully, we can both enjoy Christmas!

Thanks! Do you think XL is superior to SR?

I've been off Parnate for about 7 mos now..I could not tolerate the side effects; insomnia, severe fatigue, and more. As an antidepressant it was great, the side effects kicked my *ss.

I know nothing about Adrafanil, except i have heard it can increase energy and interest in life, which i am looking for.

1) What type of med is it i.e., antidepressant, anti-psychotic,etc?

2) Is it available in the U.S?

3) Any personal experiences with it?

4) How does it work? Dopamine? GABA? Etc?

5) Please, if you have any personal experiences with Adrafanil please tell me how it worked for you..good or bad experiences welcome.

Thank you very much!

Hi Monte

Actually it was blueberry who put me onto Adrafinil (note spelling). Here is a link:

http://www.dr-bob.org/babble/20061123/msgs/706994.html

I have zero experience with it so cannot comment.

You will find all the info you need if you insert Adrafinil in your search engine.

Here is one for starters:

http://www.erowid.org/smarts/adrafinil/adrafinil_info1.shtml

Blueberry has used it for a number of years and will be able to give you all the info.

This is very cheap stuff.

Delivered to your door it works out at about $1 per 300mg tablet. Dose is about 2 to 4 tabs a day. If you take it for more than about 5 months they say you should get your liver enzymes checked. It might be an idea to get your liver checked to start off with so that you get a good baseline.

The liver enzymes are SGOT, SGPT, GGPT and hepatic alkaline phosphatase.

I wish I could help you further with your questions but I am still a Babbler novice and don't understand all the organic chemistry stuff.

Hi Monte

I believe the recommended dose is 2 to 4 x 300mg tablets per day. Bear in mind this medication was designed, according to some of the literature, for the elderly who suffer from narcolepsy. I would suggest 2 tablets to start off with taken say 8 am and 2 pm. This is a tablet that keeps you awake so you don't want to take it later than 2 pm but then I don't really know I'm just guessing really. If I remember correctly it has a half life of one hour and takes about 3 weeks to build up.

Blueberry said he/she took it at one tablet per day for a couple of years. Check this out in the avolition anhedonia thread above.

Monte,

I will be very interested to see how you get on with the Adrafinil. I will be going on it at the end of January after I have managed to kick this Olanzapain habit I've got. I think you will see the full benefit of it after about 3 weeks - that's what blueberry experienced.

I took Adrafinil for about 6 months, maybe, and still have a heap out the back. Eventually it felt as if it wasn't very nice, and that all the stuff about 'eugregorics' didn't apply to me. It certainly did something though. I ended up with what are described as 'states of inner tension'.

Hey renaldo, have you ever tryed Lyrica? It's a wonderful drug (classified as an anti-epileptic) but has many off label uses including depression and anxiety. I take 300mgs b.i.d., and without it i know i would be bedridden. If you suffer from depression/anxiety look into it. It actually is very activating, but the dose has to be 600 mgs a day. And it takes about 2-3 weeks of tapering to get the full effect. Low dose Lyrica actually is sedating, when you get to 400-600 mgs. it kicks in and is quite stimulating.
