too much acetylcholine

is too much acetylcholine linked to depression?
When i take anticholinergics it seems to ease my depression.

anticholinergics can make you feel euphoric maybe that is what is making you feel better.

There is a theory (good theory in my opinion) that depression is due to overactive cholinergic mechanisms (relative to the monoamines). By raising the monoamines, you indirectly counteract acetylcholine. For some, direct antagonism of acetycholine can produce an antidepressant effect.

Acetylcholine is a necessary neurchemical, though stress often increases the sensitivity of the cholinergic system which can result in behavioral depression, anxiety etc.

Linkadge is absolutely right

An overactive Choligenic system is linked to Parkinson's disease, I think.

Anticolligenics are used for Parkinsons

Drugs that prevent the breakdown of Acetycholine like Aricept can cause depression as a side effect
