can you set off you own mania?

Posted by rjlockhart on July 14, 2006, at 11:20:09

I was just wondering, when i am manic i post alot of posts, because i am so interested in what i am posting, and what will the responses be when i get them back.

I dont really want to be manic, but when i am manic i have really posted some LONG posts. I want to do that again.

Hi!

I don't think so, unless you take some mood altering drug. I am under the impression that most people who are manic aren't even aware that they are manic!!! Also I think that people who have had mania would prefer not to trigger it. But then, I am not BP....

Kind regards

Meri

Maybe you get a little hypomanic?

Mania is something you're unaware of....

I disagree.. claiming that you aren't aware of mania would be akin to saying you aren't aware that you're under the influence of drugs, like drugs - with mania your mood, mental state, common sense etc change completely.. how could you not be aware of it

Mania can be more of a liar than is depression. The more manic one becomes, the more delusional one becomes and the less likely one is to realize it.

True mania is pretty psychotic. And if you're lets say schizophrenic you're psychotic too and do and think things you normally wouldn't.Manic behavior is reckless behavior, spending money you don't have, sexual promiscuity, making phone calls all over the country in the middle of the night, no need for sleep. I don't imagine it's much fun and it takes a while for meds to kick in to bring you down. Love Phillipa

Being delusional..your world is real and yes you are awarwe of it ..psychosis and paranoia is real and you're aware and no body can convince you otherwise ...but after the choas and mess left behind and your not standing in front of buckingham palace naked claiming your're Jesus or touching a family member in a sexual manner the mind goes oops that was not the real me.

P.S I didn't do those things..someone else I knew did.

one of my family memeber is REALLY bipoler, she stayed nights buying picaso paintings online 2 nights, and bought recklessly expensive furniture. She told me once when she wasnt on her meds that she could see angelic eyes looking at her, (that sounds more schizophenic) and she was talking to god.

I true do not do that stuff i think i only have mild mild hypomania. I dont do reckless behavior. I while i posted a awful post which i jawdropped when i look at it about people being hippocrites to me, not on psychobabble, in real life, horrible racing thoughts came to my mind about what i was going to do. I would NEVER do that. I prayed over and over to god, and it went away!

So no more craziness with me.

When i do get hypomanic i buy namebrand clothes that are like 50 dollers a shirt, and many of them. Buy many polo's, Banana Republic, Forever 21, You know those kinds of stores, and i blow my credit card. I dont care. I feel im on speed.

So thats my say.

Someone post back something.

THanks

Matt

Rjlockhart...

I didn't mean to dismiss if you had bipolar..it's so hard on a forum, only people in real life can say for sure...
I suspected myself that I had bipolar and I did so it's good for you to question and be concerned.
Every one's bipolars different..some rare lucky b&st&rds get the euphoric type without the anxiety or depression.
