Larry, you can help out with the kinetics of this one can't you? I'm not sure which receptors it binds (agonist/antagonist? 2nd messengers? affects plasticity?) I guess the mechanism is unknown. I do know, however, that it's associated with less frontopolar and cingulate gyrus activation. Also with behavioral changes analogous to EtOH intoxication after a bad break-up.

If you care about this pseudo-science nonsense, you obviously haven't reached a therapeutic dose yet. maybe you should increase to 750 mg, or wait for the extended release version. You'll find that this stuff really doesn't matter after all.

Hey, that doesn't work for everyone--and withdrawal is impossible. I've been on high doses for years, and it's not helping... although at least no dietary restrictions.

Some people think having a therapist with an AD is a real advantage. For this med, how about one that, to every thing you say, says, "do you REALLY give a $hit?"

If you answer "rarely, or never" to 2 or more questions, you may suffer from compassion and/or a brown nose.
Talk to your doctor about a prescription for Fukitol. Side effects include rage and apathy, uncontrolled bowel and bladder function, pregnancy and decreased responsibility. Drinking while taking Fukitol may increase the risk of side effects. You should not operate heavy machinery or start new relationships until you know how Fukitol affects you.

What I liked best about fukitol was that it didn't seem to affect my sleeping patterns.
My doctor was a little hesitant to prescribe it, but when he saw the literature, he was more than willing.Linkadge

The intersting thing about this med, is that there seems to be an upper limit. Ie, when patients find their theraputic dose there doesn't seem to be any added benifit beyond that. Death from overdose is rare, and usually secondary to activities such as forgetting to eat, or forgetting to breath. Most patients feel no compulsion to increase their dose.

Yeah, while I didn't overdose, when I was on the med my personal grooming really lacked a lot to be desired. Sweatpants and T-shirts ruled the day.
But I smoked a lot more.

I had a really bad side-effect. Once I took too much, and I went to the movies. I had to pee really bad, but I didn't want to miss anything. I said "Fukitol" and soiled myself. It didn't bother me too much, but I wish more people would take this drug, because it seemed to bother them a lot.

The big problem with this drug is that not many people make it up to a theraputic dose.
Most people know they're doing better when they start to make positive changes in their life, such as staying in bed all day.

I've been taking it for only a few short weeks. The most beneficial thing I've noticed is that people don't ask me to take care of things anymore. They do everything themselves. Having no personal responsibilities or duties really allows me to focus on healing myself. They look a little angry and ticked off when I let them down, but they don't understand that this is what I NEED right now. I smell kinda funky, but I don't care. eventually, someone's going to have to bathe me. That's their problem, not mine.

ahhh. I remember Fukitol.
Atipical response being typical for me.....
With Fukitol I was overcome by the urge to mate with anything and everything in sight.My Pdoc, horrified by my hyper-sexual state, immediately withdrew my Fukitol, leaving my newly formed Fukitol Church congregation in quite a sorry state.
Fukitol was exceedingly draining for me but fun while it lasted!!

After discontinuing Fukitol, severe withdrawal symptoms set in early on such as compassion, sensitivity, and affability. An overwhelming sense of fellowship came over me, it was creepy. Blood-alcohol levels dropped dramatically, too. The cravings for Fukitol were unbearable though and almost always resulted in an emergency dose of Fukitol.
