Waking up with EXTREME anxiety

Posted by rjlockhart on May 2, 2006, at 9:19:59

Ok today i have off work, but even before i was hired, i would wake up and feel this "sting" anxiety, i dont know what to do its like a adrenaline rush that very not pleasant.

I dont want to take anything to calm me down in the mornings, but usally i have work, at 5:00am.

I have taken benzodiazepines before, Ativan ,mainly a long time ago when i woke up into just, i cant explain it, its my mind immidately rushes after it wakes up. It did calm it down, but then after it wore off....

Is there something that triggers this in the mind.

I want to wake up stable. Well then there is sometimes i wake up depressed.....

Linkadge? SLS? well anyone who knows about receptors in the brain reacting.

Matt

I have the same problems waking up much of the time. Not quite as extreme, but each morning is unpredictable. I've kind of learned not to trust my thoughts too much until I get up and have breakfast and get going. I just tell myself "okay, here we go again. just wait it out."

I take klonopin at night which lasts me all through the following day since it has a long half life. By taking it at night I don't have a drugged feeling I get when taking a benzo in the morning. Just a thought. Rob

Maybe exercise or yoga might help in the a.m. with calming and clearing your mind from that anxiety?

Matt:

I have a similar type of problem with my anxiety and depression. Sometimes it gets better as I go into the evening/night time. I remember before I got treatment with meds, morning would be like HELL to me. They are still bad, but I find I can kinda help myself with knocking away at the symptoms with meds. Is there anyway you can talk to your doctor about going back on meds? I know it is *horrible* bud...just try to wait it out...until you can get back to meds. Maybe some of the alternative herbals might help for now?

Take good care,
Jay

Jay sounds like me. What meds are you on if you don't mind me asking. Need a different perspective. Love Phillipa

Same here. Ever since my out-of-the-blue fallout I had a couple of weeks ago, my anxiety in the morning is almost debilitating. I have also been experiencing a severe being-alone-phobia, alongside my constant agitation-anxiety-depression. The dr gave me some Seroquel yesterday, I'm hoping that will calm my nerves down. It's weird to think that only a couple of weeks ago I wasn't so messed-up.
I've also had times were the depression is worse in the am. I would bet it has to do with our bodies' rhythms.
