SLS: Increased Seroquel dosage

SLS:
Very interesting about you saying I could be in a bipolar mixed state.
Anwyays, for my GAD I called me pdoc and got permission to increase my Seroquel from 200mg to 300mg at night, and then 1mg Klonopin twice per day. It seems to be working somewhat.
After dropping 20 lbs. in the past three weeks, I have finally calmed down somewhat and seem to regaining my apetite and confidence in myself.
I don't know why it is ... but when I really feel bad I forget if there were any days I ever felt good. Does that happen to you too?

Yes.

There is a timelessness about severe depression. When you are in it, it feels as if there were no beginning and would be no end.

I don't know for sure that you have bipolar disorder, but I think it should be given careful consideration. It might help when making treatment decisions.

Hi Michael.

> What are you taking now?

nortriptyline 100mg
Wellbutrin 450mg
Lamictal 150mg
Abilify 10mg

> And is it working?

I am experiencing a subtle improvement. This is big news for me. It has been about 6 weeks since I added Wellbutrin but only 3 days since I moved up to 450mg. I don't usually respond to antidepressants this far into treatment. I began to improve in week 3. That improvement was episodic and lasted for about two weeks. It waned thereafter but has been reestablished since the dosage was increased. I have an uncommon type of bipolar disorder in which mania only appears in association with medication. Otherwise I am severely depressed 24/7/52/12/28.

It's been rough.

Scott:

What have you been diagnosed with? Was it hard to convince your pdoc in raising the levels of your meds? Do you have an IM address? Michael

Sorry to jump in, but when you said (paraphrasing): "on my bad days I forget that there were any good days" I was like holy sheeit, I have never heard it put that way before, but I relate.

I struggled for 20 years and went through several doctors before one said maybe you're bipolar.

Seroquel and Lithium have been potentially life changing for me. Lets hope it lasts.

Interesting. How long have you been on those meds? Have they made a difference? If so for how long?

Hi Scott,
Speaking of going up on dosages of things, you could try upping the doses of your other meds maybe starting with Lamictal???

Hi Tam.

When I go up higher on Lamictal, I suffer impairments of memory and cognition. I did increase from 100mg to 150mg about two weeks ago.

I don't know what to think anymore. Actually, I think I've given up on thinking.

Hi Scott,
I know the answer is probably "no" on this but in the interest of leaving no stone unturned, did you start to feel bad after upping the dose of Lamictal or was it a coincidence?

That's a good thought. Thanks.

I began to lose the antidepressant response before adjusting the Lamictal dosage.

I am going to restart Keppra at a dosage of 750-1000mg. It might help me to stay out of the basement.

Hi Scott,

Are you going to try Emsam soon?

My doctor didn't think that Emsam would have much of a chance of working for me, probably because of the lack of success with Parnate and Nardil. However, I am very encouraged by the reports of people here, and I feel it should be near the top of my list of things to try. It would be more convenient if Wellbutrin were to start working again, but I am all but sure that it won't. I would hate to have to discontinue nortriptyline to use Emsam.

Hi S

Why would your doc make you stop nortriptyline? You've combined it with Parnate w/ no problem.

He might not want to be the first to explore uncharted territory.
