Idebenone surprisingly good

Posted by tecknohed on November 15, 2005, at 19:02:09

Hi all.

Whilst searching for possible augmenting meds for Nardil, Idebenone caught my attention. As well as being a highly efficiant antioxidant (it's a synthetic analog of CoQ10, and does a better job too), it also enhances memory, attention, cognition, and behavior, and increases serotonin turnover too! For more info try:

So far its been very effective. I feel happier, worrying has gone and today I noticed my SP (which Nardil was becoming increasingly less effective for) is much less too. It's even settled the compulsiveness I get from my Provigil. I can absolutely 'feel' its serotonin effect, so much so that I even feel euphoric at times, but with an unsteady inner tension too. Time to reduce the dose I think, dont want SE syndrome. I started on 300mg (150mg b.i.d.), but will reduce to half that. I now realise 100mg/day is often enough. Of course, any SE agonist will interact with Nardil. Need to be cautious with this one.

Well just wanted to share my (so far) success with it. I think quite a few people are/have been curious of Idebenone but its not mentioned very often.

Cheers.

Hey Kev

Always good to see you posting

What your saying about Idebenone is really interesting, I've thought about trying it myself, but for some reason abandoned the idea.

I think I will get hold of some now

Hi Teck
It might be good for those of us with brain damage. I would love to have tried it, but it's expensive (along with everything else). You think those people have a good price? Does it improve, worsen or affect sleep architecture? There was something in that article about neurotoxicity (rather than excitotoxicity?). I'd bank on having both anyway.

Idebenone and emsam? » buddhi

Glad to hear it seems to be helping.

I'd like to try Idebenone with Emsam. Isn't Nardil also an Maoi? Just wondering if you've come across any safety info on combiningthe idebeone with MAOIs.

It feels good when you take it....a quite noticeable smart drug type effect.....but it made it hard to sleep, even on temazepam 40mg.
Maybe I ODd?? (It was a powder, very orange)

Didn't realise this thread had had more recent posts since I originally started it!

I buy mine LEGALLY (as a nutritional supplement) from here: http://www.1fast400.com/?products_id=1659 and it works out VERY cheap in my opinion. Best to buy some inexpensive digital scales from ebay weighing in 0.01g divisions (0.10g = 100mg) - I've seen loads of these on ebay very cheap & reliable - just check the seller's feedback.

In fact I've only recently re-began idebenone, with Marplan this time. Again, seems to be enhancing it very well. Cant remember why I stopped last time, but it was probably more of a Nardil problem. Had lots of problems with Nardil.

I take 100mg idebenone 3 x day withought any problems with sleep.

I wonder how much I took to give me insomnia?

It was probably 1/4 tsp, maybe a gram or so?

It felt good before that, though I get it mixed up with all the other things that felt good before the insomnia like rhodiola, ashwaganda and deprenyl.

According to the container label on my idebenone (I buy it from the site I posted above) 1/4 teaspoon actually equals 440mg! When I weigh out 100mg it looks like very little - its definitely dense heavy material.
