Some say you can get a paradoxical effect to valium after taking this med for years. I always thought a paradoxical effect happened right away. When one med effects a person in the opposite way that it's supposed to could valium do this. I remember a poster from the Uk that said this happened to her but right away not after a while. Is it possible. I know a lot of people have paradoxical effects to meds. Any answers Fondly, Phillipa ps my valium I don't seem to need as much. Maybe the luvox with it?

Luvox definitly made my valium feel stronger. I needed to lower my dose too. Once in a blue moon, valium will make me very chatty and restless, weird isn't it. I'll see if I can find that article on val and luvox if you like. Paul.

Fluvoxamine inhibits Valium (increases the amount available in your body) at P450 2C19, although the effect is probably not as pronounced as at 3A4 which the effect is also noted.

are you asking because it has started to happen to you? I recall something up above about depression on decrease? damn my mind is poor.
Paradoxical reactions, i believe are partially hardwired as part of your system, and partially moment induced.
If you are needing less of something, perhaps your brain is needing less of it. damn, abort.
I'm so damn drunk right now. and I'm wide awake and agitated. is that paradoxical? or today's version of my brain chemistry?
sorry, I'm just saying Hi, and I have lots of thoughts on paradoxical reactions I can't get out right now. I talked to my wife tonight about 30 minutes ago, confirmed exactly what I've been double checking for last month. I will take a clonazepam now, and see if I go more awake or more sleepy.

I dont take valium, but I have been on Zanax for several years, and never had a paradoxial effect.( Definition Paradoxial= exact opposite of intended effect)
I have combined xanax with Effexor, Zoloft, St Johns, Alcohol, and many herbs....al without paradoxial reaxtion.

Well, i know that i have paradox effect sometimes with my klonopin i still fill anxious, and torn up.
I think the body reacts diffrent sometimes to meds with its own reacting system to what it wants to do. Like its not wanting to calm down. ROFL
That is my put. The Luvux should have a more calming effect since its a sort of calming SSRI, with Valium would help.

I used to think the same about the effect hitting right away. A theory I have is that some people, especially fast metabolizers, are experiencing the paradox because of an abrupt drop of the med in their system. Another theory is that the med sets up a sort of threshold that eventually is breached by anxiety, which like water will eventually find it's way through anything?
Just some thoughts of mine on the subject, based on lots of benzo experience.
