Marijuana

Posted by mark anthony foott on February 1, 2006, at 9:28:07

Hello to anyone who may be reading this notice.
I am writing this post in an effort to get a load of people on board this bandwagon?
Hands up all of those sane people in this world who believe that Marijuana should be made a legal substance. Good! Thank you very much. Now, all of you who think that it should remain illegal, would you mind raising your hand? Oh my God, so many of you are totally oblivious to the good effects "Pot" can have on people in pain, or suffering the effects of stress. Why do people with M.S. or some other disabilitating disease see a big difference in their symptoms when they smoke a joint? Becausse it WORKS, that's why.
I believe that All forms of cannibis should be totally decriminalised, and people should wake up to the exceptional properties contained in weed. I believe that people should be allowed to grow the grass for themselves without fear of prosecution, and threat of fines or imprisonment.
I have written a poem about pot, and i'd like it to be bandied about a bit, so if you don't mind, would you be so kind as to send this post to as many people that you know. Here goes!

IT'S UP TO ME.
By
Mark Anthony Foott.

I give up, I really do,
I've done this sh*t too long.
I could do with a toke, of herbal smoke,
a pull on a big fat bong.

My head's too straight for this place,
I'm wanting to be chilled.
I'd like a whiff, of a big fat spliff,
a pipe with Ganga, filled.

Get some smoke within my lungs,
to rise within my head,
What I need, is a bit of weed,
to get my spirit fed.

I don't care what the lobbyists think,
the anti smoking crew.
Those straight head mugs, abhor all drugs,
and say what we should do.

What's happened to the free state,
the persons right to choose.
It's up to me, how I should be,
what buzzes I should use.

Of course some drugs are evil,
we're all aware of that.
A needle in the arm, can cause great harm,
but weed's my call, my bat.

No-one's died of an overdose,
o'd'ed on mary jane.
So it seems to me, that it should be free,
to conquer people's pain.

It works on cruel arthritis,
M.S. and other ails.
researchers did find, it relaxes the mind,
whilst other methods fail.

When peoples nerves are shattered,
and they don't know where to turn.
The thing to do, and this is true,
is get some pot, and burn.

Burn it in a fatty,
to chase away one's woes.
To prove my point, spark up a joint,
and tell me how it goes.

I hope that that poem made sense to you, but it is only one of hundreds of works that I have. God has given me the coolest poetry on this planet, and I want to use it for the betterment of all of the worlds "sufferers"
I am hoping that my poems are good enough to lift me in the writing circles of this planet. I'm not judging anyone elses work, but I can't help but believe that my verse is as good as the next man's at least.
It would be cool if I could raise the money through writing to make a difference also to the third world. Between 55, and 65 thousand people died last night, and every single one of those poor buggers could have been saved. If only some kind of magic could be made available to us, then we could all then practise good deeds.
I am going to write another poem for you, and this time, i'm hoping to convince you that I can at least hold my own in the literary world.

Pigeons

I like to feed the pigeons,
give them bits of bread.
Hear them coo, a polite thank you,
delight in getting fed.

The seem to get a bad press though,
unlike most dogs and cats.
just the other day, I heard someone say,
They're nasty flying rats.

The people who say this, are crazy,
they should check out their eyes.
Pigeons are things, that have two wings,
and I've not seen a rat that flies.

Pigeons are so trusting,
most will feed from the hand,
but a rat will scurry, away in a hurry,
so i can't understand.

understand how the two are confused,
it really isn't "fur"
The two of these, are like chalk and cheese,
and one can't exist in the air.

Wow, what a most interesting post, and a poem too at that.

I have read much and seen much concerning the remedial benefits of cannabis. Those are facts, now whether something as beneficial as marijuana should be legalized is a very complicated thing because of all the politics and money involved.

I would like to see it legalized personally because it can help a lot of people and has helped a lot of people.

Politicians, heads of governments, they decide what is best. But they are not gods.

Actually in all seriousness, I self medicated my bipolar disorder for years with marijuana. But I've found better, legal medicines that have fewer side effects.

Also, even though the popular belief is that MJ is a soft drug, there is some research out there that shows MJ releases dopamine in the same part of the brain, the nucleus accumbens, that is involved with heroin and cocaine addiction.

From my experience I had strong cravings when I stopped smoking. I was definitely addicted. And in my case it definitely led to harder drugs of abuse.

I think there is promise for MJ as medicine or more likely, the CB1 and CB2 receptors are logical targets for rationally designed drugs. The problem with MJ is that there are so many active chemicals and the composition and potency is all over the map.

Yes, interesting. The research I have done on marijuana concerns cancers of the body.

Concerning its usefullness for "illnesses of the mind", that is such a complicated ordeal.

It still seems within reason (and research) that cannabis would at the least be agreeable to the relief of various anxieties to a certain extent, even maybe used just as an adjunct.

Am I being too wordy or circumlocutory? Oh well.

This will probably get moved to social, substance, or writing, but I wanted to express my deep thoughts.

I smoked pot when i was a child
the voices ran wild.
I have a mental illness
marijuana means no chillness.
I can hear every thought
when I'm on pot.
LSD, whippets, Beer.
helped to calm the fear.
I threw away my bong.
So the cops don't find it when they come to arrest me for the crimes I committed against society and myself.
My medical pain was intensified by the effects of the drug and It affected my mental healf.

thanks for listening.
I don't care what others do. But my eyes are wide f*cking open. Vicodin would help my brain and my pain. I've never had a mammal sh*t on my car.

Right now in Canada there are people using marijuana for nerve pain. It is available as chocolate, elixir and for smoking. Time will tell if it is effective for nerve pain. It helps with restorative sleep for some. Fondly, Phillipa

It makes me dissociate and panic. It had a very similar but far stronger effect on my 16 yr old son who now wishes he'd never touched it. He gets flash backs. It is also the most common cause of Depersonalisation Disorder. Just one smoke and you're screwed for life. I used to think MJ was totally harmless but I've changed my mind

Yeah I've heard about that happeneing, but I wouldn't say you are screwed for life, depending on what caused the Depersonalization... there is a good chance it will wear off eventually.

Still, I would rather have Depersonalization Disorder than Tardive Dsykinisia, and by the way, I actually do have Depersonalization Disorder and it was caused by the evil Geodon. I've had DD for 2 years now.... damn it, along side Tardive Akathisia, again caused by Geodon. It has been such a painful horrible experience for me.

I am glad I don't take those meds anymore, any now am on clonazepam for now which I like a lot.

Hello to you all again. Well folks, youv;e really got me going now. I think youv'e just released the computer monster.
I'm glad that you all had something constructive to say on the subject of marijuana, and i read all of the post's that you all posted with interest.
Fenix. What the hell was you chatting before? Do you have to use big words to impress people, or indeed, where you simply assessing whether or not I was stupid?
You asked whether you were being circumlocutory or not, and the truth was, You was. The text that you put into your POST was sort of big headedly flippant. If I was to be circumlocutory, then indeed I would then become incommensurable, and then i would undoubtedly become very asymmetric and use periphrases. Here is an important quote from one of the worlds greatest pioneers, Louis Pasteur.
The universe is asymmetric and I am persuaded that life, as it is known to us, is a direct result of the asymmetry of the universe or of it's indirect consequences. The universe is Asymmetric. I hope that that clears that up Fenix.
Would any of you like to make a solid difference to peoples lives on this planet? If so, then I suggest we all get together in some way and thrash out a plan,
We all have decent pliable minds, or else we would not be holding this sort of conversation, but what are we actually doing with this intelligence that we possess? I'm sure that we rreally should be pooling out thoughts, and coming up with answers that are beneficial to the masses.
Did you know that last night alone, more than 50'000 people passed away through the effects of starvation. Roughly around the same amount of men, women, and children die each and every day. I can't help but believe that it is more than about time that this world took stock of this evil situation and altered things. Starvation is a manmade thing, and man can easily remedy this attrocious neglect.
I have written a poem the other day, and I feel that I should type it out for you. I have lot's of poetry, but I feel that this one is special to this case. Here it is anyway.

Lend A Hand.
by
Mark Anthony Foott.

This poem's an open letter,
to the readers in this town.
It's simply a plea. for you, from me,
to help a man who's down.

Lend a hand to each other,
do what God has planned,
lend another, a forlorn brother,
the help, to let him stand.

I'm talking of the starving,
the ones diing in the dust.
Should we help, them help themself,
well, I just feel we must.

I'd like to set up pipelines,
a supply of water, I'd give.
It's what they need, to grow their seed,
to grow the grain, to live.

I haven't all the answers,
but I feel that I have some,
and I just pray, that soon the day,
when I can help, will come.

We all should do this together,
and i just feel we will,
but me on my own, can only moan,
and can only moan, until.

Until my works are published,
typeset, bound, in print.
Until I'm rich, I'm in a ditch,
my hands are tied, whilst skint.

I have a load of poetry,
and I'd like it in a book.
I feel a need, for people to read,
to stop, and simply look.

To look at what I'm doing,
to realise my gift,
and over time, by power of rhyme,
give the starving a lift.

This poem to you, is now finished,
my appeal to you, is done.
Now it;s up to you, what you shall do,
for the children of the sun.

Well I don't know what you will make of that bit of writing, but I just hope that it can go a little way in getting me into the position that i need to be in, in order to do whatever I can for the forgotten ones.
I have got other works than I will be putting onto this station, and i hope that ultimately something good can come from all of this.
At this moment in time, I am living the existence of a homeless man. I sleep in a park in Bath, and I rely a lot of the time on charitable organisations to get me fed. This is mainly because I have always been the eternal optimist, and have always felt that every horse that I've ever picked would be a winner. Right up until almost each one has been well and truly beaten. I have finally learnt my lesson now though, and see things in a whole new wider perspective. It's not about be and whether I win. It's about me winning for other people. It's all about me winning the battle to get all of those poor bastards fed and watered. Someone should care, and seeings as we are all part of this conversation, maybe it's us who should be doing this damn thing.
well that's it for now, but I hope that God works his/hers/theirs/or it's magic, in turning this problem around and allows us to do something constructive with our time.
Peace out, and God bless,
Mark Anthony Foott.
P.S. I don't know whether I'm allowed to put my e-mail address onto to site, but i'm going to try it anyway. If it is published on here, then please get in touch, and maybe we can put our heads together and come up with a heaven sent plan? Here it is.

I think you have misunderstood me; I am having difficulty understanding what you are talking about.

I replied in the past posts about how I think marijuana would be effective for depression and anxiety and how it should be legalized.

And yes, I asked whether I was being circumlocutory or not, in other words, if I was being too wordy, etc (I have been told I have a tendency to do that). It had nothing to do with me showing off any of the "big words" I have learned.

Anyway, I am a poet too; I usually write them in the bath though because the water does something to my creativity.

Fenix. So you are a poet too. that's cool asI feel the world has plenty of space for decent writers.
The other fella said that he wondered whether the cannibis was contributing towards my problems? No mate, definately not. If anything, I become a lot more creative when I have a spliff or seven.
I suppose like everything on this planet, weed is suited to some people, but not to others. I'm not saying weed is some kind of wonder drug for everyone, but I am saying that it inarguably has beneficial properties for lots of peoples needs.
Oh yeah Fenix. I'd just like to add that I also like to come up with a ditty or two in the bath. The calming soothing effects of the warm caressing liquid can make me feel like a prince. I love to have a load of lovely little candles burning, a nice glass of red wine, and a spliff. Am I wrong in taking this approach to my work?

Reality check...you're homeless. You're associations are quite loose and you are borderline incoherent.

To me you seem to be teetering on the edge of psychosis. Marijuana is not the medication of choice for people in your position, Haldol maybe, but not marijuana. The research indicates a correlation between marijuana use and mental illness.

Please get some help, any homeless shelter should be able to direct you to the approriate social services.

vainamoinen. What the hell are you getting into fella. You're telling me about marijuana, and all of the pitfalls it entails, and yet you are talking so much rubbish. Listen fella, I'm homeless but I've no problems to speak of. Soon i will be published as the worlds coolest street poet, and I wouldn't be able to do that If I was not at least O.K. in the head?
I'm not saying that pot is every man or womans cup of tea, but I am stating categorically that it works so much good on a hell of a lot of people who just want to have there shattered nerves soothed. If I was a doctor I would be advocating, and indeed fighting for the free availability of weed for the individual who would benefit.
Where are you all from anyway? I am in Bath in England, but I have not long returned from an almost three year stint in Seattle. The people in America<mainly the authorities>are so tolerant of the smoking of weed, and i feel that that is for a reason. Listen, why don't you just develope logic, and look at why the smokers on this planet are treated with a blind eye? Do you not think that the people in charge have got a clue as to what is going on? of course they have, and they like the majority of folk, can see the positive side to pot.

Hmmm, if you are really homeless then how are you able to use a computer (unless it was at a library).

Marijuana is a complicated subject that I have no experience in, some say that it helps their anxiety, some say it makes them paranoid, but if sweet leaf makes you feel better, than I guess you have a problem solved right there.

Hy fenix. So you don't smoke the weed, and still manage to present a totally unbiased viewpoint. I am impressed, and what's more, it gives me hope that there are lots of fair minded people like yourself on this planet. The more the merrier I say.
What are you Fenix? I mean, what sex are you. It doesn't really matter, but I would just like to try to put a face to the words? The movie actor who died, was called Pheonix Rivers, and he was a guy, so I'm guessing because ot the different spelling, you are female. That'll be fine, as the kindest person that I know on this planet is female. She's my mum.
I do my poetry straight out of my head, and it all comes so very very quickly. I feel that my poetry always contains something of at least a little relevance, and hopefully there will be something to give to who ever wants to take it.Anyway, I've absolutely no idea what I am to write, but it will be cool. Here goes.

Don't Judge.
by
Mark Anthony Foott.

I'm sitting here in the internet caff,
A poem, I have to write.
My names Mark Foott, and I have to put,
my views to the left, and right.

I have to be at least balanced,
Know what I'm talking about.
I'm hoping to see, this poem from me,
can leave you in no doubt.

No doubt that somehow, I can win,
and get there in the end.
That all will feel, that I am real,
and want to be my friend.

I know I can't get everyone,
but I'll get the ones I can.
Like you out there, who really care,
for a literal, homeless man.

I have my gift, for a reason,
just like the rest of you.
I'm hopimg some day, I'll find the way,
to do, what I must do.

I must try to do my best,
nothing must be, half measure.
Whether giving a hand, to help man stand,
or giving a woman pleasure.

I'll never be half hearted,
in anything that I do.
I'll use heart and mind, in order to find,
the way that's right, and true.

I want to help the third world,
that's a fact that's true,
but understand, I'd like a hand,
from maybe, some of you.

I'd like to get a book published,
then we can make a start,
to make a change, and rearrange,
bring about, true heart.

I'm using what's at my disposal,
anything at hand.
I'm just aware, that it's all there,
not choreographed, or planned.

Like the poetry that I'm given,
I cannot make it up.
It just comes out, of a spiritual spout,
and brimmeth over, my cup.

This chat of our's, is no accident,
and I hope one day, we'll meet.
when power of poem, has got my home,
and I'm not living on the street.

I'm going to end this poem now,
as I need go on, no more.
I've shown a bit, of real cool sh*t,
and I know what it's for.

it's simply part of my C.V.,
another poem well done.
It's just to show, so you can know,
that I'm a number one.

I'm not saying that I am the greatest,
but I'm not second to anyone.
Here's the point, I'll settle for joint,
equal with every one.

Well that's about that then. I'll call it a day for now, as I want to get off this computer for a bit, and chill out.
Fenix. I've just had a bit of a rude awakening? I have just realised that your name may not even be your real name, as we are all given the option of having a blagg post name. My name though, is totally real. My name is Mark Anthony, but I don't at the moment have a Cleopatra. Maybe in the future, we'll see.
Fenix, you also asked how I manage to get onto the internet if I'm not in a library?
God put's lot's of people in my life, and lot's of people have specific purposes. Some are there to help me, some are there to be helped by me, and some are there to simply be who they are.
I am in an internet cafe in Bath, but I don't have to pay a penny. this is because God knows that I have no respect for money, as such. Don't get me wrong, I know what a powerful tool it can be, and I do like it, but I will always be content to let it slip through my fingers. Anyway I don't have to pay, as all the staff who work here, don't charge me. I don't even have to ask.
Anyway, I'll close now, God bless you all.

First of all, please allow me to apologise if I have inadvertently upset anyone. If I was sounding flippant to you, then please let me assure you that I wasn't meaning to be.
What I'd like you to try to understand, is that circumstances in this life are so diverse to what I "presume" your's to be? At this moment in time, I am currently in possession of a load of dreams, but very little else?
I went wrong in life, but it was for a purpose.
I had to gain an empathy with the lowest "caste" in this life, namely, the homeless. Before God had me embark on this what I can only describe as a mission, I was leading the proverbial family life. A wife and two children later, I am well and truly screwed! At this moment in time I'm armed with only words. Words in poems, words in letters, and words in cyber talk,
My life has had to change immeasurably to get me to exactly where I am now. If I hadn't gone through so much crap in this existence, then I'd surely be still stuck in the same rut that I had spent all of my life in. That rut took everything from me. I was left feeling like my head was empty most of the time. But then God's plan kicked in for me, and it has been so life changingly awesome at times.
Only around 8 yrs ago, I was living in a life of nothing but ignorance and self doubt. I had no conception whatsoever what God was, and was <I suppose> content to randomly meander through that life. Things had to change radically so that I would wake up and smell the coffee. God wasn't going to make it easy for me, but I've been blessed in the fact that I have never been given more than I could stand.
This journey I've been on has took me to some weird and some cool places, and the people that I've met on my travels, have been cool, not so cool, different, and indifferent, but I have had the chance to learn so much. So much more than if I had been left in my dreamlike marital state.
How can a homeless fella living on the streets of Bath, suddenly find himself homeless, and on the streets of Seattle U.S.A.? Let me try to explain a little.
I was in the city of Bristol with a woman who I had met in Plymouth, we split up, and I ended up walking the few miles to Bath. I was dejected and didn't have a penny in my pockets. I had never been to bath, and had no idea of the special history that is assigned to it through the annals of time.
I arrived in Bath at the end of august 2001, and within a fortnight had witnessed the horror of 911 in New York. Even though I'm English and was far away from the states, I felt the absolute shock of what was happening in America. I remember watching the T.V. in a homeless shelter in Bath, called Julian House, and every single person in the place was in some kind of shock. I vividly remember those poor poor people who were faced with the only option available to them? Jump, or burn!! That day made an impression on not only the U.S., but on every single Christian based country on the planet. No more shocking event<in a peaceful country>had ever taken place, and to be honest, it's hard to envision anything more devastatingly tragic.
It was to be another year almost, before I was to end up in America, and here's how it happened.
I met a fella called Owain, and owain was to be the tool that God would ultimately use to get me to where he wanted me. Owain was aware of the strange events that had been surrounding me, and he was also aware that I felt that God wanted me to get to America to write a book.
Look, if I'm going to tell you my story, I'd like to know that someone is interested first. I don't want to be puttong a load of writing on the computer that no-one is really interested in.
If any of you would like to hear what I have to say, then please let me know, and if no-one let's me know, then I'll drop this whole thing now. I hope that that is all quite coherent to you. Goodbye for now, or forever?

No offense meant, and none taken.

In all seriousness though, you're thought processes seem similar to other people I've encountered who have mental health issues. But I'm no doctor, so maybe get yourself checked out when you have a chance. It's probably nothing. I'm just concerned is all. May good health and blessings follow you wherever you go regardless.
