Hi there, i havent been in the forum for a week or so, but since upping my dose to 225 effexor and occaisional klonopin, ive felt loads better anxiety/depression wise. The las week or so ive been waking up 4 or 5 times a night, then usually going back to sleep 10mins later, but waking early feeling so tired.
Now ive woken 3 or 4 times tonight, my head is heavy, eyes stinging.
I dont understand because it didnt do this early on. Would it help if i took klonopin at night as ive taken none today, and how much?Appreciate some advice. thankyou

Maybe you are better of just taking 7.5 mg or smaller dose of remeron... or some bendryl and keep the klon for emergency use i.e.. panick.. u dont wanna get immune to this.

You think its the klon thats making me sleepless?
I cant get any extra meds off doc, just effexor and i got the klon myself. But yeh il just use it when im really bad. You know of any good sleeping aids over counter?

benadryl is over the counter i think... you should beable to get remeron of the doc surely... just a small dose though for sleep (smaller more sleepier) or just benadryl or any herbs chech the alternitive board ...
i am having same problem now allthought i aint on effexor but i am hoping to go bk on it soon (3 yrs ago i had it) i cant sleep at all i am just soaking my skin with this herbal stuff that mongs me out... seems to do the trick, i got it from a herbal party in a little bottle its liquid called herbal 54 or something like that... sorry the label isnt on it any more ..

I think it would be good if the doctor were more willing to prescribe a sleep aid, if for no other reason than to counteract the insomnia that is likely from the drug he has already prescribed for you (the Effexor). Is this a GP or a pdoc?--My experience is that psychiatrists generally seem much more willing to prescribe sleep aids than do GPs. If the doctor won't prescribe a benzo-type drug like Ambien (Restoril would probably work even better for you), at least see about trazodone, which is a fairly innocuous sedating AD. As mentioned, Benadryl (diphenhydramine hydrochloride) is easily available OTC; the other one I'm aware of is the stuff in the Unisom tablets, which is doxylamine succinate. There is another Unisom product in gelcaps or something that has the diphenhydramine instead, but at 50 mg/pill instead of the usual 25 mg. You could also try the herbal stuff, but I'm afraid I have no experience with it.Todd

even though I had insomnia BEFORE I started taking it. I am quite certain that my current insomnia is from the Effexor, but I love the energizing effects I get from it!
Anyway, I tried melatonin and valerian root, which are herbal treatments for insomnia and had little success. Then my GP prescribed trazodone, an AD, which made me feel hungover the next day. After that I kept alternating Benadryl and Unisom (the OTC meds) and found that I developed a sinus infection from being so dried out by them. Finally my GP prescribed Doxepin, a tricylic AD, 50mg an hour before bed and this works great for me!
Good luck. Maybe you could try the herbal things before you go looking to get a prescription. Melatonin and valerian root can be found on the shelf with the regular vitamins.

Hey thanks alot, ive written down the info and i think il try the benadryl firstly. I am just with a gp by the way and have had addiction problems in past, but 5yrs clean. Still, its in my records!
And i love the motivation that effexor gives me, im doing loads now, before everything looked just too crap to be interested in lol.

What part are you from?
I was refered to mind... i got a counciller for life she is lovely.. they r there for u when ever u need them not like the nurses, they do the same thing even better. i just see my gp now for meds etc.. even though i aint on nuthing YET:-S
