Are you the same *lexman* that was on Lexapro, posting here before? How long did you give the Lexapro before you quit?

My pdoc told me that most of these type meds take *a while* before your body adjusts to them and befor you get relief. I would imagine prozac would take *a while* also. Lexapro literature says 6-8 weeks, it actually took more than 9 weeks for me to notice that the med was finally working.

I would suggest you talk to pdoc about your concerns, and please give the meds a chance to do their stuff! For me, Lex has been MOST beneficial.

Good Luck!~~~8|8

I would say you gave it a very fair try....and there is something about Lex that is very sedating. I sleep like a log now, where I used to be an insomniac. I fight the day-time *droopies* with lots of JAVA!!!! which I LOVE, and drink twice as much as I used to.

Still think you should give the prozac a bit more time. The 5th week was really rough for me and I was SERIOUSLY considering just quiting. Is there something about week 5??? Hopefully week 6 will be better and then 7 and 8 even more so!!!

Best of Luck!~~~8|8

Has Prozac had any positive or negative effects? Four weeks is a long enough trial, I would move up to 40mg.

Cheers,

I went to 40 mgs Prozac daily which works well, and I take Xanax as needed only......great combo.

If you are not getting any side effects then try a higher dose. I can't take 20 mg (or even 10 mg) but my girlfriend can take 80 mg.

It is too rigid for medics to suggest that as the books refer to 20 mg then that is it. 20 mg is not a lot. Give the final increased dose a try for something like four weeks.

A friend of mine got no results from prozac until week seven or eight and then--BINGO, the light switched on!
