Hi, I have been on Lexapro for about 10 1/2 weeks. When I started it I was very happy to have relief from my depression and my agitated states. I was happy again and did well for a while. However now I'm starting to slip a little back into my agitated states and I'm just blah. I don't feel like my Lexapro is working anymore. I'm on 10mg. Should I ask my Dr. to up my dosage? Maybe the initial dosage isn't where I need to be to maintain? I am also on 300mg of Wellbutrin and I have started to take Buspar to augment sexual side effects of the ssri. However I am only taking a half of a half of buspar right now until I can get use to it. Any advice would help and be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

That is what I was kind of thinking. I'm new to antidepressants and medications. I seems to react to medications initially very quickly. I know how good I felt a couple weeks into taking the Lexapro and for a couple weeks after that. But it just isn't the same and I assume it should be pretty comparable to how I was feeling in the beginning. I will see what my Dr. thinks. Should I ask to go up to 15mg or 20mg? Thanks for your response.

I'd probably just go for 15. With most of these meds it's best to take baby steps. Lexapro is fairy strong compared to other meds of it's kind. Going from 10 to 15mg is a 50% jump.

Wow, I didn't know it was that big of a jump! Will I have to go through all the initial side effects that I went through when I started? That wasn't much fun. And most of them have gone away.

I noticed a big difference in efficacy when I increased from 10mg to 15mg. I have since tried backing off to 10mg, but 15mg is the point where the med really starts to work for me. From my expereince, I would highly recommend the jump from 10mg to 15mg if you're not where you want to be. The transition was relatively smooth for me. Temporary increase in anxiety and slight increase in sexual side-effects, but all in all the ride was smooth. Lexapro working faster than other ADs is bullshit to me. It slowly builds over time. I've been on it for months, and things only continue to get better.

Well, no. Just tell your doctor you dont do as good anymore as you did at the beginning. I am sure he/she will up your dosage. Dont be afraid to take it as high as 30mg. Anything higher than that doesnt make sense, acording to my doctors opinion.
