Is this your first psyciatric medication ?

Remeron can make you quite irritable for the first week or so. You need to do as much as
you possibly can before 8:00 pm or so. Then
take it at this time - (ie as early in the night
as possible)

Some people say the irritability is due to the antihistamine effect. This will gradually wear off
as the sedation wears off.

I would say you should know in less that 1.5 weeks weather this is something you *can* continue.

Best of luck

Have you already tried the SSRI's ?

Hi Remeron user,

Believe me, i understand the tempest in which you are. I have been there. On Remeron alone i might be the Hulk on steroid.

Although i don't want to play the doctor with you, i strongly suggest you try Lithium with Remeron. You probably don't need a therapeutic dose like a bipolar. May be 450 to 600 mg of Lithium might do the job for you.

That did work wonderfully for me with almost no side effect.

Wish you the best of lucks. Bye.

I know how you feel as I was on it about a year ago. I went throught the panic and the anger, and it did subside.

I do recomend taking it as early in the evening as possible, because the anger seems to be worst in the morning hours.

I want to be completely honest when I say that remeron may not be for you. I had to leave it becasue of the anger. It did subside, but I was
just not myself for the entire 2 months I took it.

You may want to see if others have had a more positive experience.

If you have propensity toward mania, you may want to try lithium. Dispite the side effects, it really was a godsend to my condition.

I wish you the best of luck,

Where do you live ??

Remeron does cause agitation and irritability upon start-up, having said that, considering your reaction to your daugther and her safety after only one dose, I would not take another dose of it. I've been on Remeron since Jan 02 and although I went through the agitation and irritability I could control it. This may not be a good medication for you to be taking.

PS Dr. Bob, you may see this as a put-down, it's not, I do understand this person's struggle, but there is a child involved here.

Essence, i am fine thankyou i will never harm my child. this med must be the one for me, yall dont realize what other meds i have been on? i have every single ssri known to the united kingdom where i am? also the doctor and 2 physiciatrists have diagnosed me with just anxiety accompanied by depression, i have ocd in my eyes as i am obsessing alot about my health and being paranoid.. also in my eyes i see myself as being a little manic, i shop till i drop not caring about my home bills, i do silly things such as when i am talking to people i am fast talking and i say silly things, then change confersation, etc etc then another time i am down and panicky not crying though as i thing all the meds i have had in the past have taking away my emotions.

seen as i am in the uk what is lithium please and can we take more than 1 seritonin medication, i have read up somewhere that remeron with another med can cause seritonin syndrome??

Please do a favor for yourself in doing a search at:

http://www.google.ca/

and look for "Lithium".

Lithium is a salt. It is a very good mood stabilizer used in the treatment of bipolar illness and/or as an augmentation in depression resistant.

Serotonin syndrome? Bah! Don't be paranoid! You can mix a lot of meds safely. MAOIs are more dangerous and tricky to mix with but that is not what you take.

BUT ultimately, call your pdoc and talk to him. That is the first thing to do, in my opinion.

Good luck!

I just wanted to add that for me upping the dose of remeron has helped big time in regards to reducing hunk like symptoms of remeron. I also added a small amount of citalopram with the remeron, as the remeron was not helping as much for anxiety or ocd like symptoms, and I must say. this combo is starting to feel like going to work well. I know it's only early days, but my moods becoming a lot more stable and no more night sweats that I got from taking seroquel, or paxil, it was one of them. They have completed stopped now and I would imagine that would be from the remeron, but I did underestimate the citalopram, I'm going to stay on this combo for a few months and see how I go, and because they are both relatively low doses, 37.5mg and 20mg citalopram theres good chances of not popping for a while.

Peace,

Anton.
