CLA and cortisol reduction

Posted by linkadge on June 11, 2003, at 18:10:02

CLA (conjugated linoleic acid) is supposed to reduce cortisol levels significantly.

Please try this supplement, as I have, it has a powerful anti-anxiety effect. Better than kava-kava.

All I can say is try. It has been shown to regulate cortisol, but never used as an anti-anxiety.

Good Luck

I took it everyday until the bottle was finished a few months ago, I didn't find any real difference with regards to anxiety, but I did notice that it had really good anti-viral qualities. Everyone around me was getting sick and when I was taking that stuff, I seemed to be immune to colds.

I was taking it too try and lose weight. I didn't lose any.

Hi,

Can anyone give any studies, refs, webpages etc that explain or verify these good effects of CLA.

I would love to try it.

Cheers,

There was a discussion about CLA back in February, and I posted some references then.

I read a few studies, that showed it prevented
muscle and weight loss in animals exposed to heightened stress. Other studies suggested greater regulation of cortisol during stress, and improved mood, sleep, and concentration during dieting. I will try to find the links.

does anyone know if deer meat contains appreciable amounts (they are ruminants, and do get a lot of forage, but not grass)? (see, here`s AA, the anorexic hick punk-rocker bio major, who eats deer meat). also, would it be reasonable to suspect that, as many of the luminal bacteria of ruminants are the same as, or closely allied to, the human luminal bacteria, that a high intake of alpha-linoleic acids may lead to a larger amount of circulating CLA? my bio prof was ranting about the multitudinous benefits of CLA supplementation when i asked him, said it was the only supplement he would take, etc. and also indicated that sunflower seeds did contain appreciable amounts.
