Hello,
I've heard that mk-869 is being launched sometime this year as a treatment for those undergoing chemopherapy but that they also think that it may help depression. Does anyone know if it hold much promise for treating Treatment Resistance Depression?
Also what about CRF Antagonists, I can't seem to find anyone who has been involved in the trials?

The CRF antagonists are being studied, but are not too far along yet. The "first generation" ones were studied in a small phase 2 clinical trial at the Max Planck Institute in Germany; 80% of the severely depressed, treatment-resistant patients improved. The "second generation" molecules are in phase 1 trials at Glaxco-Smith-Wellcome. I think the molecules themselves were first identified at the Salk Institute, where there is on-going research on them. I so hope they work out, as they would stop the HPA axis dysregulation right at the source, before it could damage the neurotransmitters and the brain itself. We'll have to watch how the research is progressing.

...80% of the severely depressed, treatment-resistant patients improved ...
Really? You really confuse me. According to many sites in the internet it has not shown to be efficive in depression, yet.

..MK 869, a substance P antagonist Merck discontinued for depression indications after Phase II trials.I was in a trial of MK 869, but discontinued due to heavy dizziness and because it effectivness hasnt been proofed in former trials.
I would be thankful if you post a link to information about this study at the Max Planck Institute.
