hi,
i take trazodone at night.
i was wondering why it seems to keep me up?
(take effexor in the morning)
it has only been 2 weeks-am i ever going to sleep?
any comments would really help!

That happened to me and my Doctor said it was due to the Effexor and Trazadone being used together. That it was too much of an SSRI for my body to handle at once. This was in effect making me hypomanic and I was taken off of Trazadone completely. I use Clonazepam to be treated for panic disorders anyways, and my Doctor suggested that I take a dose of Clonazepam before bed. This has completely improved the problem.

I had a similar hair-raising experience with taking Lexapro in the morning and Trazodone at night. I think that AD's can cause some anxiety and stimulation when you first take them...
I was TOTALLY unable to sleep without the Trazodone, though. I feel less stimulated now, though after 3 weeks of AD's. Does effexor make you feel really nervous during the day? Maybe it is the cause, not the Traz..

JYL ,I had that exact experience. My Pdoc who is usually incredible with my intricate cocktails, had prescribed the Trazedone specifically for sleep. It was a mistake.
It was awful to say the least.
I quite the Trazedone and I did end up sleeping better and feeling a tiny bit better.
Though as you know I was feeling dreadful from the Effexor alone, but I found the combination worse for me.
How are you doing with the Effexor?

efferox is working much better than paxil for me.
havent pulled out any hair in 5days.

Hey I'm so glad to hear that!
Yeah effexor does work for many people, its great that you stuck it out. Thats such a scary thing to do especially when you know if it doesnt work you may be dealing with withdrawl.I'm alive, thats my huge accomplishment for the moment, I wish my family could see that as the huge effort it is and quit expecting me to actually DO STUFF like a normal person...

my husband flushed all of mt trazodone down the toilette after i told him i sometimes would take 3 or 8 just to sleep without dreaming or waking up.i think he did the right thing.
i am hoping i dont get any withdrawl-i am sad enough.
