i have been taking 10mg celexa for anxiety and panick attacks coming up to 3 weeks now, i was ok at first taking it, dry mouth, off food, tired, so i started to take it at 5pm now in the past 4 days i have been feeling sick, terribly weak, gone of the erge of smoking, just so week, waking myself up being sick, and bad headaches, is this normal to have these side affects like now coming into my 3rd week, i love the celexa it has really calmed my anxiety down, stopped my attacks from lasting hrs instead they only now last few mins sometimes few secs, i just want some one to tell me that this has happened to them.... please reply to me or email me crazychickuk@aol.com i am worried thankyou

Hi. You're not crazy. I had the same effects on Celexa. I felt very weak physically. My posture became terrible. I was always slouching because I felt so exhausted and weak. I was very upset by this for many reasons, one of which was that it was the only SSRI that I was able to combine with other meds without causing hypertensive crises and heart palpitations. But what good is that if I had to spend half the time slouched in a chair or in bed? Celexa did help my anxiety tremendously, but I guess there's always a trade off regarding benefits versus risks. I hope things get better for you!

A new version of Celexa, called Lexapro, will be on the market in the US within the next month or 2. This version works just as well or better on anxiety and depression but causes less daytime tiredness.
