Nizoral(ketoconazole), amazing!

Posted by Cruz on September 18, 2001, at 14:24:53

Life is strange. After all the C&%# I've taken through the last 20 years or more, who would of thought a fungicide would be effective. I took a single dose a couple weeks ago, and so far so good. I suspect by lowering cortisol it adjusts my circadian rythmn. Maybe its doing something else. I just know its working. Keep well, look after yourselves.

Cruz,

I am beginning to wonder if a lot of "off the wall" therapies might be effective for some people. I checked a link here (I can't remember who posted it), that had to do with CFS (chronic fatigue syndrome) and it mentioned that >50% of people with CFS are testing positive for Lyme disease now! Is Nizoral prescription only? This isn't the med for green fingernails/toenails is it?

I think Nizoral is used for nail fungal infections and the like. Its known to lower cortisol as one side effect. What else it does who knows. I'm pleased with my response to depression like symptoms with 200mg of Nizoral every 2 weeks.

My symptoms include: Major Depression, extreme fatigue, blunted emotions,(probably from the Zoloft), just an overall feeling of illness. Of course to top it all off, my sleeping is miserable! I wake up 6 or 7 times each night. Do you think this med. might help me? Any advise would be greatly appreciated! Thanx!

Hi Cruz --
I'm fascinated. How did you come about taking the Nizoral? Who prescribed it for you? Did you have some kind of fungal infection you were treating, and the anti-depressant effects were a pleasant side effect? Or did a very clever psychiatrist prescribe it for you?

Thanks in advance for the info, and so glad to hear you found something to help you!

I just took a 200 mg dose tonight. I couldn't find any interaction between it and the amisulpride/moclobemide I'm taking. I'll let you all know how I do on it.

My fiance has had a very bad experience with Nizoral. She only took it for 5 days. By the 5th day she said she was feeling very empty and horrible. I did a search on the internet and found something about how Nizoral can be a very toxic drug and can be very dangerous. We dont know how but it deffinetly seemed to cause a temporary depression in her. She stopped taking it and recovered very soon afterwards.

If it works for you then that's good but perhaps those of you considering taking it should do a search on the net whether or not the drug is dangerous/toxic. well bye
