A girlfriend of mine.... she's been taking effexor xr for about a year.
I tried it once.... about 6 months ago, it was the worlds worst drug... FOR ME....so I didn't stay on it.. was only on it for 4 weeks and had 2 months worth of horrible w/drawal. Anyway....it's worked great for my friend.... another example of how everyone is different.
Anyway.... point. My friends PDoc told her at an appt, this morning... that he is weaning her off of effexor and starting her on celexa because effexor is about to be pulled from the market. She's freakin' out cuz she loves the stuff... but sees no reason why her doctor would lie to her. Anyone hear anything?

I know your not a psychic.... but any ideas as to any reasons her doctor may have told her that??? I just think the whole thing is bizarre.

my old pdoc told me a whole bunch of baloney. Wellbutrin often causing phychosis (it has to be rare). among other things.

Perhaps her doctor has had a bad experience with the withdrawal for one of his patients. And he himself has decided not to prescribe it anymore.
Be interesting to see what happens.
