Which Came First?

Posted by Lindenblüte on September 19, 2006, at 9:10:00

The chicken, or the egg?

My terror, or my angst?

My words, or my silence?

My screams, or my words?

My double consciousness, or my illusion of unity?

My fragments, or my self?

My childhood, or my problems?

*****

Why "My"?

Please exuse me if I'm talking out of turn, I don't mean to insult or hurt.

It's important to you to know which came first... and that used to bother me, distress me so much. When did my bad stuff start? What triggered what? Whatever happened in the past, I can't change. I can't do "if only"s because that makes it worse, and my head just refuses to go there.

When I turn my attention to my feelings, the end result of what has happened, whenever it happened, it's no longer important to me to put it all in the right sequence. Coming to terms with the emotions that the experiences evoke is what has helped me.

So, my take on your "My"s is...

My terror, or my angst?
yes, terror and angst, tied up with each other, impossible to tease apart.

My words, or my silence?
how I feel about my words *and* my silence

My screams, or my words?
screams, and what feeling makes you scream

My double consciousness, or my illusion of unity?
which one makes you feel safer?

My fragments, or my self?
how do your fragments feel? Do some make you feel good?

My childhood, or my problems?
yes, Entwined, at least for me. the problems just became more apparent as time passed.

Entering from left field... or from out of the blue... wherever it came from, it wasn't appropriate.
It was just stupid of me.

CS- no need to apologize. I'm glad you told me your perspective. Thanks for responding to my little list. My mind is tangled. I don't know if there is any end to the string, or if it's an endless loop, or if there are many loops? loose ends?

((((Clearskies))))

I've got some of your weather with me today.

tempest in my heart, but Clearskies in my window.

It has to be the CHICKEN because the EGG couldn't cross the road. Think about it.

> Why "My"?

Did you take it? Was it given to you? or was it always yours from the beginning? You choose what to do with it. For whatever reason, it WAS "yours." But, you have shared it with us and therefore it has become "ours."

Hmm, eggsalad point, however, I was definitely an egg before I was a chicken.

I'm not sure why it's mine. I guess because I'm ready to take control over fixing it, and part of fixing it, or dealing with it, or learning to live with it, or leaving it in the dust or whatever, is deciding that it belongs to me, and is under my control. maybe I didn't want it. but it's there, and it's not going away on its own.

well, since I have told people, they can help me too. just by listening, or taking away some of my self-doubts, or by telling me that that particular "issue" is not really pathological, or whatnot.

thanks curt. you're the best
