i hate......

Posted by karen_kay on April 29, 2007, at 10:44:18

forgetting everything.

i swear, i used to be smart. i was never good at math. i never could type. but, it gets to me sometimes to think about all the classes i've taken and forgotten.

and all the things i used to know and have simply no recollection of.

i hate it. i mean, i've always been dense. it's the forgetting that gets to me. and it's not jsut the stupidmax or dopamax or whatever you want to call it. it's that 'black hole' memory of mine (yes, i remember you calling it that).

i feel bad when someone says 'do you remember when you said 'xxxxx.' and i just htink 'wow! i said that?' good or bad. sometimes i surprise myself. but i really dislike spendign half an hour on a post, getting near the end and finding i can't recall the word for that liquor that is a hallucinogen (someone help me please!!! what is it?) so i jsut cancel the whole thing. or, getting into a discussion and finding i've forgotten the whole point of the discussion so i just feel stupid. (as soon as i hit submit, i'll remember the name of that liquor anyway so it doesn't matter)

can you get a head transplant?

i don't really hate it. it's jsut frustrating. and i hate frustration. is it uncivil to hate frustration? if so i'll take a pbc!

I feel stupid too kk. And I felt that way before I ever took the Smartsam, which makes me feel a little smarter-- despite it's not improving my memory, it sort of props up a few positive distortions-- and the abilify, and the prointelligil. I still can't remember the capital of Missouri. Maybe it's Jefferson City, but maybe it's not. I keep trying to figure out which one is Jefferson City. I've been trying to remember just one thing for years-- ie the capitals of the 50 states. You can quiz me. I just can't remember, although I finally have Frankfort Kentucky-- I think, is that it?-- down. But is Raleigh the capital of North Carolina or South Carolina? and is Augusta South Carolina? See I just can't remember anything about the South, or the West. Well, Cheyenne is Wyoming. I always remember that. And Carson City is Nevada. That I learned. You have to quiz me on those. I always remember the coasts, but the middle of the country is such a jumble. Iowa? nope. maybe it'll come to me. Idaho? no clue.

I'll have to think about those. So I really am stupid. I can come up with a few clever theories on a dime. But other than that, my brain is a colander. Always has been. Seems like it won't ever get any better.

This is pretty cool!

http://www.lizardpoint.com/fun/geoquiz/usaquiz.html

And also the one for Europe (coz I'm European!!!)

http://www.lizardpoint.com/fun/geoquiz/euroquiz.html

I did surprisingly well on the US one, considering we only have to learn European countries (and some Asian ones) in class, and very well on the European one (thats to be expected!) but the new European countries are pretty hard.....

What did you get?

I just got 98 out of 150 for the American one

And 107 out of 117 for the European one.

So, but then, I've been to most countries in Europe, so that probably helps.

Would that be Absinthe? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Absinthe

Interesting stuff. Reminds me of those trippy visuals I'd sometimes get on Ambien. I bought a bag of wormwood a while ago intending to make my own with vodka, but the bona fida stuff tastes much better.

And yeah, I know what you mean about the memory thing. A few years ago I was working as a pizza delivery guy and I had to label each of my pockets "Coins" or "Notes" because I'd keep forgetting where I'd put them. Customers would laugh at me for getting in such a muddle all the time. My mental functioning and memory has now returned to its old self, but I'm not sure you'd like the reason why.

>can you get a head transplant?

I think they're working on body transplants, and I'd quite like to have one myself...........all the things I could do. I'd be wary of having a head transplant - I think 'you' might end up in the waste disposal while the geek whose head it is would get to take over your perfect body?

A shameful 63/150 on the US quiz, and a slightly more respectable 77/117 on the european quiz. Geography is not my forte.

But only on the Oz quiz... doh

Let's see, I forget what I got on Europe, appallingly bad, though, with all those new countries. 140 our of 150 for the US, partly because I was sloppy clicking, partly because I am appallingly ignorant.

And not so good on Canada nor South America.

I'm not even going to try Africa, nor the Middle East.

But I did pretty well on the Crack the Code game, and loved that and the pattern matching game...

Okay, I'm boning up on my US Geography. I just found out that Idaho and Utah are waaaaayyyyy further west then I thought. And Wisconsin is hiding out around Michigan.

And just in case anyone was as ill-informed as I was, seems Knoxville is the capital of Tennessee.

Sorry, but the South-- what a morass. Too many states all crammed together. I think I never realized the Mississippi River was so far East. Duh.

Too many states alltogether.

Maybe I could start reading about the Civil War?

I was rather taken by what some general (Sherman?) said beore he took his troops into somewhere or other (Carolina? Charlottesburg?)....something about 'the evil started here'. And there was that memoir by Ulysees Grant.

But generally I find it easier to sublimate my sense of horror by reading European history, currently "Hope Against Hope" by Nadezhda Mandelstam which is, as expected, rivetting and profound.

I was thinking the same thing, Declan. I think you can never understand these states unless you read something about their history. I still think Indiana has no right to be so far East. Frankly, this map is completely different from the one I have in my head.

But a good book on the Civil War would straighten everything out, I think-- atleast up to the West--- which is much easier.

If you find a good one, let me know. I'll do the same for you.

babs (my sister, and yes, she only lets you photograph her from one side), mr kk and i were complaining about which state had which capitol (and indianapolis is the capitol of indiana, thank you) so we foudn a quiz online. we were surprised at how many we knew (and the number we kept missing over and over again.)

i still don't know the capitol of missouri. i think it's kansas city though. but, i couldn't tell you where the state is.

i didn't realize delaware was a state until maybe 6 years ago. it could have been later than that. and i have some strange fascination with montana (is it really a state? i highly doubt it and have heard some very convincing arguments to which i may well believe it is not!). i do believe there is a town called bute (pronounced butt) montana, and always make jokes when parking way out in nowhere saying we are parked in 'bute, montana' or 'bfe' (that has to do with egypt though and i'll explain no more)

that's about all the geography i know.

oh, and i couldn't name all of my state's neighbors if i tried. how sad is that? and other countries baffle me. district of columbia? where's that? i'm beign serious and i wouldn't have had a clue before my mind became a black hole. blame the public school system, i was an a b student in college level courses!

can you be (shoot, i had a word for it the other day; give me a second) imagelexic?

i saw a child on the tele and the child was walkign around, obviously old enough to have some serious teeth. somehow i saw the absence of teeth and only a few teeth. apparently, my image was backwards and the child was only missing a few teeth, and had a mouthful.

if you can be dysgeographic (is that what you called it, or am i being dumb again?) then i can be imagelexic. goodness, i felt like an idiot.

That's very funny.

Personally, I agree. Many states are NOT where I put them last time I checked. I know, for instance, that Nebraska was much easier to find. I don't think I ever did find it on this quiz -- if I did, it was certainly an accident. Colorado was supposed to be much closer to California. And I distinctly remember the Dakotas being a bit more southerly...

Oh, well. At least I remembered which was Mississippi, and which Alabama -- and I even found Oklahoma first try. Thanks to the panhandle...

Would this mean fighting Dr.Bob and Mr.kk? Bob I could handle, but I've heard Mr.kk is hard?

Just think of our offspring dear; your body, my brains, your poetic talent, my word-perfect spelling, our narcissism. This would be very useful in furthering my plans for world domination. Of course lady fortune may not smile upon the genetic lottery; what of my teeth, your spelling, my social skills, a double helping of bipolar disorder....... I shall have to think on it dear.

In the meantime you'll have to try and comfort yourself with my (plagiarized) 'Ode to kk': http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FYzzgiNYwG4

about the song: i am rather fond of that song. my friend and i adore that song.

about the 'no fat chicks sign': same friend and i are always talkign of making a t-shirt company. we'd thoguht of having one of those on a shirt (for girls only of curse, making it even funnier). i tend to wear shoes that are waaay too small for my feet, (hello, a tall gal has to have big feet to support her body, doesn't she?) once, upon trying to fit my enormous feet into a measly size 8 1/2 shoe, she screamed at me to 'suck it in' that's another t-shirt. (oh, come on. i know other women do it too. wear shoes way too small when they have big feet. besides, it's much easier to walk in heels that are too small; your feet don't slide down a bit!)

ok, now my stolen ode to you... (if i can find it. i've been listening to this song now for weeks on end. and you should jsut hear me sing it. i sound just like him, i swear, i do!)

ok, i can't find it, you youtube guru. can you find the video for prince and the revolution 'kiss'? i have that song on my ipod and wnat to see the video, but can't find it anywhere.....

about our offspring. well, i have one. he's perfect. i have no intention of having any more. and mr kk is indeed bipolar as well (what is it with me and being attracted to them there bipolars anyway? i just know mister bob is...) my ex boyfriend wasn't the least bit bipolar (muttering about them virgos again) and claimed the only sort of mental illness his family struggled with was his great great aunt (huh?) had alzheimers (another huh?).... needless to say, he wasn't too terribly undestanding about my ups and downs, but he would have made a great partner for someoen else, jsut not me. (seriously, no sarcasm there.) perhaps medusa (ahhh, it's all in good fun.. we still keep in touch, no not that way.. we just weren't a good match. he needed someone needy. i needed to cheat. shew, glad i got that off my chest before marrying, eh? or, out of my system rather...

but, i thouhgt that drink was some sort of tequilla with muscaline (i have no idea how to spell that one. did i guess it right? am i even talking about the right thing?) illegal in us, but legal in europe? of course, this man told me
oedipus rex was a cousin to tyranisaurus rex (yeah, i looked up oedipus, can't look too stupid today). in a philosophy class, while discussing that rex character, i raised my hadn proud and said 'yes, you are talking about a cousin to the dinosaur tyranosaurus'

i've become quite accustomed to looking dense. i had to laugh about it too. it was a higher level class though. looking back, i don't think i quite hit him hard enough when i got back from class.

think as long as you like. toph is very near dumping me as we exchange our words and i fear i can't keep him interested much longer. so, i'll buy you some time to think.

you should know, mr kk is rather tough.he understands this is all fun and games, but lately has been asking 'you do love me, don't you?' i don't know if it has to do with my mood swings where i say often 'i hate you' (not really, but those mood swings are real dear. hey, i'm bipolar and meds are treating me funny), or if it has to do with all these online jokes.

hey, he knew how i was when we married and said he loved me even more for it. honestly, he notices people looking more often than i do. and i know he wouldn't have it any other way.

Sorry for the delay dear, something is making me lazy - maybe the nicergoline or could it be those lovely painkillers I'm fond of? Very moreish ((((unscrupulous online pharmacies))))).

Re: the muscal/muscat/muscaline muddle. Did you mean mescaline by perchance? Yes, that is a powerful hallucinogen found in the Peyote cactus. I've never heard of it being mixed with tequila but I dare say it could be done. How did you get hold of something like that?
