Not sure I like this chat thing. Not sure at all. So many conversations at once. I have a little ADD. Okay a lot. Then you say something you think may have been taken wrong and its not there for weeks to set straight. Like I say to Noodle that shes so smart. Thats supposed to sound like a good thing - its my problem I'm intimidated, not hers. Then I always talk about dogs with Dinah. Why do I do that? And alex, I tell her she's serious sometimes and it comes off like I'm dissen her. Must be that smart thing again. Tough to enter a room full of smart women. Especially when you act so stupid.

And unless you don't like talking dogs, I'm glad you do. I don't have many people to talk dogs with any more.
It can be a bit confusing. I lost a few comings and goings last night just because I wasn't following things well enough.

as for me, i'm getting tired of all the women too. except for the occassional bobby (who only pops in to tease), very few men frequent chat.
gosh, let us brainstorm so we can come up with ways to bring more in?
and it was fun seeing you there last night, but you never did call me smart! hey, i think that's highly uncivil.
oh, and a few hints... that's why there are different colors. thataway, you can just keep up 'with a few', if that's what you want to do. i do it when i can only keep up with a few at a time.

and i actually started on the therapy board, i think..... with a pbc to jay as a first post(how is jay, anyway?)

When I log onto chat sometimes I just log on to watch pretty colors go by. chatting under the influence (guilty). but not lately. unless by "under the influence" you mean all the crazy brains drugs I've been getting free samples of.
hmm. what's wrong with being surrounded by smart women anyways? are you afraid it might bring out your "inner smart woman"?
kk's right, we need more men in chat, and not just to make silly cleavage (or lack thereof) jokes, but also to keep us informed about the latest happenings in male-land. You're a vital source of information. Otherwise we just speculate on what male motives are.
some tips to make chat easier
say hi.
announce that you're just here to watch for a whilesee if anyone is talking about things that interest you
see if anyone is talking about things that really bother you (or if it's a specific person you're avoiding) you can use the option to ignore a particular person. then their little messages don't appear on your screen
if I start acting too smart, you can ignore me. that's cool.
start a new topic if you notice that you're tongue tied. you did this masterfully last night regarding dogs and dinah. you don't even realize how masterful that was. then you only have to pay attention to dinah's color and scan occasionally for the word "dog"
You should also know that it's usually not THAT busy. mostly less than 5 people in chat, in my experience. then the lines don't go by quite so fast. once it gets closer to ten, it's hard for anyone to follow. Don't be too hard on yourself.
I can't even follow myself half the time. or wait. what was I talking about? huh? then I just watch for a while until I can pick up somewhere.

my mother and her ex had one. upon returning from paris, my ex fell asleep and when he awoke, my mother (with even a more wicked sense of humor than my own) replaced me with her own vixen doll. i kid you not. talk about a rude awakening for my ex.
another time, she pulled a container out of the kitchen cabinet and asked him to sample it. he did and claimed it tingled is tongue. you can only imagine what it was.
yet again, she slipped a pair of edible undies into his coat.

I can't respond to all of the above other than to say I rarely get manicky much but I have been since Easter for whatever reason and it worries me a bit because I am annoying and irritable and flighty and have loose associations and, did I mention, I can be annoying. They discovered while Bubba definitely had more school spirit in his pinky than me, you, and kid combined (and I'll tell you, kid has some serious school spirit - I can just tell), he never graduated high school! He flunked Home Ec and had to go back.
