When I log onto chat sometimes I just log on to watch pretty colors go by. chatting under the influence (guilty). but not lately. unless by "under the influence" you mean all the crazy brains drugs I've been getting free samples of.
hmm. what's wrong with being surrounded by smart women anyways? are you afraid it might bring out your "inner smart woman"?
kk's right, we need more men in chat, and not just to make silly cleavage (or lack thereof) jokes, but also to keep us informed about the latest happenings in male-land. You're a vital source of information. Otherwise we just speculate on what male motives are.
some tips to make chat easier
say hi.
announce that you're just here to watch for a whilesee if anyone is talking about things that interest you
see if anyone is talking about things that really bother you (or if it's a specific person you're avoiding) you can use the option to ignore a particular person. then their little messages don't appear on your screen
if I start acting too smart, you can ignore me. that's cool.
start a new topic if you notice that you're tongue tied. you did this masterfully last night regarding dogs and dinah. you don't even realize how masterful that was. then you only have to pay attention to dinah's color and scan occasionally for the word "dog"
You should also know that it's usually not THAT busy. mostly less than 5 people in chat, in my experience. then the lines don't go by quite so fast. once it gets closer to ten, it's hard for anyone to follow. Don't be too hard on yourself.
I can't even follow myself half the time. or wait. what was I talking about? huh? then I just watch for a while until I can pick up somewhere.
