Where are the suicides?

Did they say it was the right decision to do?

Who's to say, Ralph, because they can't.

It's painful to those left behind, but I don't see that that alone makes it a wrong decision.

The promise of life and the reality of it, hey?

I knew an old lady who had a series of strokes.
One day she came out of her silence while she held her teddy bear and said 'Life's not all it's cracked up to be'.
And that was the last thing she ever said.

But you live in Brazil. I'm curious. Whereabouts?

I was always told that silence means yes, so i'll take that as an answer from them...

I think suicide is only justifiable when you do it for a good cause, to try to change something around us.

It's hard to answer why life seems not to bring satisfaction and happiness to most of humanity. The answer may lie in front of our noses, or behind it. Lately I've been thinking about some sort of big collective mistakes that are leading us to misery. Just like it happened in the Middle Ages.

Maybe that old lady had a good answer.

I live under your feet. My town (a small, calm and warm place) lies about 100 km far from São Paulo, the big city. Its name is Indaiatuba, coordinates 23S 47W. The opposite in the world would be somewhere near Alice Springs (?), i just checked in the World Map.

Many cheers Declan, thanks for always posting

Ralph

i can tell you how much it hurts me to see suicides on this board. it may sound silly and insencere, but i assure you, it isn't.

some people on the boards wonder if we could have made a difference, if perhaps we could have stopped the suicide from happening.

i mean, i guess it's your choice ultimately, but those of us left behind (i know, you probably think this is a line of shite, but it's really not, i honestly do hurt when someone from the board is gone) jsut wonder if we could have done something to help.

if you need anything at all rf, please feel free to babble mail me. i always respond to b-mail. not so good at responding to posts, but b-mail is a different story. don't always say the right things, but i'll always listen, promise.

But, maybe 'silence' means they don't know or they think you need to search your soul so you will be true to your own feelings. Silence may feel like no sometimes, but I've found it's not.

You take care rr. I hope you'll keep posting.

Hello kk and 5f,

thanks for your concern. I think that suicide is a selfish act. This is what keeps me away from it. Unless you're thinking about changing something in the world. I seriously thought about the question: would it make a difference if I suicide to try to call people's attention to stupid things that happen in the psychiatric world (my last post at Babble is about medication's harm to "healthy" though troubled people)? I mean, in a proper way. If the answer is no, I prefer to dedicate the rest of life I have to my family and friends.

I have to change my way of thinking, that's what I'm trying to work on lately. Maybe I just have to give up on thinking about me being happy and try to make people around me happy. Think this is possible. Hard is to pretend, when you feel so empty and worthless, but there should be a way out. Maybe I was born to a different purpose than enjoying myself life.

Your friend,

Ralph

Sao Paulo is this huge city where, incongruously I had thought, they have psychoanalytic conferances. But then psychoanalysis was big in South America, certainly Argentina.

What about all those cool plants that grow in South America? Not just coca, but those Amazonian plants. Cat's Claw is interesting. (Wouldn't recommend catuaba.) But I wouldn't mind seeing a shaman, even take that ayahuasca. Bolivia's just up the hill from you. And those mountains....I'd love to see La Paz.

I don't understand - were there more posts before this one about this?

Kath

I had read something before about a suicide & that a memorial was posted somewhere. Does that happen on Admin Board?
